I've been with Cingular for about 2 years now. They are MUCH better than Cell One, however....Nextel is offering a great new promotion. Anyone have opinions on which is the better choice? I travel a bit, and in some spots, my Cingular doesn't switch over to the roaming. Nextel offers free roaming, which is what is making me sway more to changing to Nextel. HELP!

If you're happy with your Cingular service you should probabely just stay with them. Nextel phones can't roam by the way they use there own network so its pretty much a Nextel signal or no singal at all. There kinda targeted to more of a business user too I believe 90% of Nextel's customers are business.

Another thing to consider is the cancellation fee. Unless you have completely satisfied the terms of the contract, you could face cancellation charges. Have you checked Cingular's latest promos against what you see with Nextel? Have you seen the brick-of-phone you'd have to get on Nextel? Those things are considerably larger and heavier than what other carriers sell. |

Check out the latest Nextel "bricks" The I85 or the I90 or the I80. They are as compact as most cellphones on the market today. Go to www.nextel.com to view the specs on these phones. I personally have the I90 and it's smaller than the motorola star-tac and loaded with tons of features. Be sure to check out their coverage to ensure it exist where you travel most. Good luck! Steve. |

Okay, hand me hat again. I'm already full from dinner, but I'll start eating it later. Admittedly, I don't prefer Nextel. I still think it is more for business customers. But lately every time I say that I get a Nextel proponent jumping on it like a flea on a dog. I guess I'll have to fall back on my original tennant: If it meets your needs and customer service is good to you, what more could you ask for? |

Hi, How is their service in these areas? Can you talk in a tall building/apartment? I'm really interested in their National Starter Plan with 300 anytime minute, free long distance/roaming. If anyone has any experience, please let me know. Thanks ahead.

If you're ever in doubt about weither or not Nextel has coverage in your area, look for a Nextel Indirect dealer and get a "Demo" phone. I keep 5 on the shelf and it makes or breaks the sale with no hard feelings. The client can use them for three days. I also have one Sprint phone for one day demos. The new i80 is a 4oz Bar phone and the i90 is smaller than a pack of cigerettes. If your new to Nextel go for the new "Condor" line. unless you need a Europe ready phone (i2000). or a unit that is safe in explosive areas r470. |

I am in the Seattle area, and coverage is the one single BEEF that I have with NexTel! I don't get service in the elevator shafts of most Buildings in Seattle, even in the middle of downtown, even towards the top floors! Other than that, I like their Customer Service, DirectConnect, WirelessWeb Plus/ 2-way messaging, and the combination of Free Incoming and Free nights & weekends (extra $). |
