I've just verified that tri-mode Sprint phones such as the new Kyocera 2255 are now capable of 800 digital cellular roaming with Verizon and Alltel in many parts of the US. This is an advantage for longer battery life when roaming.

Alltel is CDMA. The Motorola StarTac 7867 is only a dual mode phone. I know because I have one and it's not capable of roaming on 800 CDMA. Are you sure you don't mean the 7868 which is a tri-mode for Verizon?
