We are moving to a new home in a sub-division where there is very marginal cellular service from ANY provider. So far it appears that, in our specific home, we do not have any service at all. We are with T-Mobile who, I'm told, uses Cingular towers in our area (San Clemente, CA). T-Mobile returned my e-mail saying that there is only "marginal" service in that area and that they have no current plans for any additional towers that would improve service. Although there is at least some service within 1/4 mile of our new home, the construction crews have verified that there is no carrier that provides service in our specific spot. I've been trying to find information as to whether any of the signal boosters that I see advertised will do any good. It seems some of them will amplify an existing signal...... but we have no signal at all. Is there anything anyone could suggest we try? |

If you're talking about those stickers you attach on your battery for a stronger signal...forget it They don't work at all...save your money...maybe someone on this list knows about something else which will help. Good luck! jodi |

There are a few things that do actually work. Firstly, and more cheaply, try an amplified antenna. Get one with at least 5db gain, and it shoudl help. That does mean though, that to use your phone, it has to be attacted to the antenna. A good selection can be found HERE , they know their stuff and are helpful, so just call them... Another option is a repeater. With a repeater, a directional antenna would have to be mounted on hte outside of your home, but you can have an internal antenna so that you coudl use your phone with no external antenna attached. These are extremely effective, and are often used in malls, airports etc...They can be found on the above site, or another company JDTECK . I know two people who have used these, and had great success, tehy are expensive, but come with a 30 day return policy.
