Yes, being with one carrier after ten years, with the same phone number is kind of 'odd' in this day and age but I 'might' have to switch when my contract expires this coming May. As I posted/replied in another thread, I see a degradation of service on the TDMA side of ATT. We all know that ATT is wanting people to migrate over to the GSM side. For some parts of the country, this is pretty much easy to do as the coverage is kind of seamless. Out here in Colorado, I sense there are some existing problems. One thing, my Nokia 6360 handles both the digital and analog sides to TDMA. If I were to switch to GSM, the phone I would need to use out here,is, I think the Ericson T-68U, so that I could utilize analog, TDMA and GSM for my national one rate plan. Isn't this asking a phone to do quite a bit? Won't it be 'easier' to utilize the Verizon's network with a phone that could easily handle the CDMA side with analog? My understanding is that Verizon is building a 'better' network and a calls transmission and reception is clearer and cleaner than ever ATT's digital side. Yes, being a loyal and long term customer definitely has its advantages. ATT has given me a top notch plan, even grandfathering parts of it to make it better. Plus they usually give me top notch equipment, even free or heavily discounted. And the service reps are nice to me given my loyalty. BUT, are you reading this ATT, your service is beginning to suffer. Any additional thoughts from the forum re: what I've just shared? How about you ATT? If you can't satisfy someone like me, how are you going to retain your other customers when number transportability commences in late November?

Well my personal opinion is AT&T Wireless and TDMA pretty much suck. Good for you get rid of them and go with Verizon Wireless. Verizon Wireless |

I agree. TDMA is a dead technology, and it will take them along time to make the GSM coverage as extensive as the TDMA network. Verizon would be a good choice. The network is already built out, and they continue to build on it constantly, spending about $4 billion annually on it. Plus, CDMA is not a dead technology, it will continue to evolve and be around for years to come. You can try them out for 15 days and decide whether or not you like them. |

texas where in the rules does it say the comments have to be professional....tdan like the rest of us is entitled to his opnion...just because he's a moderator does not mean that he is limited only to pure facts.... so here is my opinion... try out verizon if your unhappy with att...its can't hurt...sprint is suppose to be good too...as larry will tell you soon...so try them both out see which one your more happy with...i always belive loyalty is based on the service your given now...not the service you were recieving in the past....personally i'm not going to be loyal to any company unless they pay me 50+ dollars a month... Verizon is excellent in Colorado and surrounding areas. GSM in Colorado will probably be great in a year or so when all the overlay is done, and roaming partners also have GSM built out everywhere.

I was down in the San Luis Valley climbing the 14K peaks above the Sand Dunes, when on one of my usual places up high, and in direct sight to Alamosa and elsewhere in the valley, I had the toughest time getting connected to 'any provider'. Yes, I had a full signal. Just kept on getting a busy signal. This went on for what seemed eternity. Very frustrating! This is what's been happening lately in addition to not being able to obtain a signal. Finally, I got through and made a couple of calls. In the past, with ATT, even on the B side in rural Colorado, I'd easily get first a signal, then a direct tone. Now, it's tough to get through at all. Anyone else share these types of frustration? Now you know why I'm probably going to be leaving ATT next May.

TNDan21 is entitled to his personal opinion, and his post included the disclaimer that it expressed his personal opinion. As someone with a whopping 8 posts on the board, what makes you the decorum police here, anyway? Quote:

It's not just Larry who thinks that Sprint PCS is excellent in southern California. My roommate works in California (flies down weekly) installing computer systems in banks and hospitals throughout Southern California and the Bay Area. He's had excellent coverage with Sprint in both areas over the past year, and is very pleased with them. His take on the Free and Clear America plans is that they're pretty pointless for his needs, since Sprint already has excellent coverage. Unfortunately, this trend is beginning to show in Sprint's pricing, which is now much higher than comparable GSM plans and is on par with Verizon. I personally travel to northern California (Sacramento and the Bay Area) a couple of times a year, and have had excellent coverage with both Verizon and Sprint PCS. Service quality is just about indistinguishable between the two; even at my aunt and uncle's place among the almond and walnut groves beyond Lincoln, I have great coverage from both carriers. Quote:

Some people used to use the excuse about Sprint not covering the I-5 between San Clemente and Oceanside as a reason not to get the service. But that's not true anymore as that area is well covered now. Same with Santa Barbara.

What I said was my own personal opinion. One that I am entitled to. I really don't care what Texas or ILUVSOCAL thinks about me.
