Anyone know how Sprint's service in the Echo Park/Silverlake area is these days? I lived there about a year and a half ago and I had ATT TDMA which was OK, but wouldn't work indoors. My roommate's Sprint phone wouldn't work indoors either. He switched to Verizon and it worked fine. Now he is in Sherman Oaks and his Verizon phone won't work in his house but my Sprint phone works fine (I'm new to Sprint....6 weeks). I lived near Glendale Blvd in between the 2 and the 101. With all Sprint's improvements in LA, I'm just curious. How is it that Sprint seems to be so strong on the East and West Coast, yet everyone here in the midwest loves Cingular?? Jeff |

That is a tough area for coverage, Larry would know about any new towers going up in the area. I do know Verizon works pretty good there. Where in Sherman Oaks does your friend have a problem with Verizon? Is it just interior covergae.

Definetly improved since a year and a half ago. Sprint applied for two new towers there about a year ago. One was approved and the other was denied. They are probably still looking to add another site somewhere in the Hyperion area where the other was denied.

yeah, i've noticed that when i'm on Beverly Glen near Sherman Oaks, my Verizon phone drops down to 1bar versus my Sprint phone full signal.

I think you'll notice Sprint passing up Verizon and the other carriers in some of the tougher to cover areas in the Santa Monica Hills, Hollywood Hills, and Beverly Hills areas. Sprint has added a ton of new microcells in these areas during the past 3 months.

yes definitely noticed that, i even try using my audiovox 9500 to see if it would improved and no go. Sprint is doing a good job in the hills and alot of places here in the San Fernando Valley.
