I noticed new mounting brackets for panels going up on an Edison tower in Mission Viejo along the 5 between the exits of Oso Pkwy & La Paz Rd. Hopefully it will be Sprint's because I noticed a kind of weak signal there that doesn't look like it would penetrate indoors to the surrounding shopping areas very well along there. I'm going to go back there and investigate further in a couple of days hopefully.

I'm pretty sure it will be Sprint. Cingular and AT&T both have sites less than 1/4 mile away so it's not theirs. Verizon and Nextel have sites about 1 mile away but those are mounted very high off the freeway and should provide good coverage to that area already. Sprint's nearest is about 1 mile which doesn't cover too well. This plus the fact that Sprint already has two other Edison tower projects underway in South County it's pretty safe to assume it's theirs. I could find out for sure by going to the base of the tower but just haven't had the chance to get down there yet. I've only passed by it on the freeway and didn't stop. I'm curious so I'll try to get down there this weekend. I only wish there were more So. Cal Sprint users in this forum to enjoy all these new antennas with me. SPRINT has improved so much lately here in the s.f. valley i'm happy about it because i get to use my sanyo 8100 more and more.

Sprint is now trying to get another site in Studio City at 11239 Ventura Blvd. The case will be heard on 9/22/03 in Van Nuys. Another proposed site near Saticoy & Wilbur in Reseda was heard on 9/8/03 in Van Nuys.

Dearv Larry, Have you seen the signboard on the freeway in San Juan Capistrano promoting the better Sprint coverage on I-5 south of San Clemente? Must be a VERY BIG DEAL for Sprint to toot their horn. |
