Does anyone know who is building up all the towers which look like palm trees in the Los Angeles area? I saw 3 of them all within about 3/4 mile along the 10 freeway just west of the 605 today.

Well, I know that. I was just wondering if anyone knew who put up any of these towers as I have seen them elsewhere. I am wondering if it's AT&T doing their 850mhz thing. Personally, I guess they are a good idea if local residents find them less offensive, but I kinda find them funny looking. They look so fake, but then again, this IS LA!! |

AT&T is indeed 850 MHz in L.A. but is doing a "1900 MHz" thing. Sadly, that means don't expect any new 850 MHz towers. I tracked two of those 'trees' to Sprint PCS, but 3 others that are not. It's the ones disguised as homeless people on street corners that impress me the most. -Bill |

The older palm tree towers (circa 1999-2001) look fake. Some of the newer ones look very real I think. There are also pine tree towers going up that look so real that most people would never know they were fake. I personally think Sprint uses the best looking ones.

I think they should put some of these towers in the northern states so people there will know what it's like to live with palm trees!
