Yeah that's already been posted in one of the other forums here. I still say they didn't sample enough of the population to be very accurate. There is no way Nextel should have been ranked #2.

They didn't sample me Verizon has the worst network in Lake and Mendocino Counties. My survey for this area: 1.Edge(AT&T Network Member)Wireless 2.US Cellular 3.Verizon Wireless Cingular, Nextel, T-Mobile, Sprint and Alltel don't have service here, so that part of the survey is not applicable to this part of Northern California. |

No offense ILUV, but those two counties is just 0.4% of the population of California and 0.05% of the population of the United States. Then again, my grandfather's small county in the midwest has only 0.2% of the population of his state and has better coverage from Verizon. Never mind. Yes, I know that, I was born and raised in So Cal(which I miss dearly), but this is where I live at the moment, and I could care less if Verizon works in Chicago and Atlanta really well if it's not working where I live and travel most of the time. I know our population is low, I was just talking, I didn't want to debate on how important or unimportant this area is, because I know population wise it's not very important. Verizon just doesn't cut the mustard in this area, or in many areas across Northern California, AT&T has them beat there. Just don't go by surveys, go by who really works where you need them to

I've found Verizon to be fine in most of (populated) northern California - in the 9 Bay Area counties, Santa Cruz, and Truckee, for example. Many people I know in the Bay Area area switching to Verizon.

They are pretty bad in Lake and Mendocino Counties as well as the Sonoma Coast, and have no coverage in Humboldt, Trinity, Siskiyou or Del Norte Counties, where they don't even have a license. Also, I have found their service to be very spotty around Redding, Red Bluff, Burney and the Lassen areas. There's much more to Northern California then just the heavily populated areas, it's most beautiful areas are away from the big lights Also, to get between populated areas, you often have to travel through these rural areas, whether by train, car or bus. They have inherited the bastard stepchild mentality of their forefathers in this area, Contel and GTE, like I said before if you lived here, you'd understand that statement better. Now, Redding and Red Bluff will probably improve, but this area, highly doubtful. I guess it really depends on where you live, work and travel.

Verizon is fine for my work phone, with work paying the big bill. But here in NorCal, T-Mobile serves me just as well as Verizon does, but at a lower cost. When I travel for the company though, I must admit that in the South, Verizon does have some good coverage along with some good network sharing agreements -- this is were there is no GSM service at all. But for my personal use, I like T-Mobile's price and their coverage here is great. I agree, the 16,800 sample is pretty small. They should have done the survey by region, rather than a blanket survey.
