I spotted a new tower going up in Lake Forest in the 22400 block of Aspan Way which is located off of Muirlands Bl. between Bake & Lake Forest Dr. At first I thought it wasn't a Sprint tower even though Sprint could use some new coverage there as I only had one bar under the tower. But now I'm thinking it might be Sprint. Cingular/T-Mobile already have a tower less than 1/4 mile away so I don't think they would need another that close unless it's for added capacity. It's definetly not Nextel or Verizon as I know very well what their So. CA equipment looks like. I can't rule out AT&T GSM becasue their new GSM only sites look just like Sprint's and Cingular's. So if I narrow it down to two carriers it has to be either Sprint or AT&T. The one weird thing is that there were no labels or ID marks that Sprint usually has on their sites even when not fully completed. The site is still being worked on as there was a crane right next to the tower. It looks as though it will be disguised as a pine tree when finished. I'm really keeping my fingers crossed that it will be Sprint. Sorry AT&T & Cingular people.

If you call the planning department for the city of lake forest they have to have it on file. They will first give a name of a person or of a unfamiliar company but with furthur probing they will give the name of the wireless carrier.

I got the email okay, but the pic won't come up Looks like their site is down: "The site is temporarily down for maintenance. Please check back later today." I'm looking forward to seeing it! How do you like the phone so far? My next phone will be one with a camera in it, though I do have the camera attachment for my Nokia 7210 and it does really good, I'll have to take some pics of cell sites with it here and send to ya, we can compare notes and pics Here's the specs on it: http://nokiausa.com/nokia_accessorie...:HS-1C,00.html |

Got it Larry, thanks! That looks a lot like a site Edge Wireless has up on top of Ridgewood Summit(highest point on 101 and the NWP RR, elev.1950 feet) about 5 miles north of my house, they both remind me of light poles, I take it that's what they designed it to look like? There's a road up to it, I should take some pics, I am leery though with the 9/11 thing, I know I am a lot more careful photographing trains, some railfans have been questioned by the police and even the FBI. OT, but Ridgewood Ranch at the base of the pass is where Seabiscuit came from, and where he spent his last years too, he's buried under a undisclosed Oak(there's tons of them here!)somewhere on the ranch, thought that'd be interesting with the new movie coming out about him. Here's a good article on it: http://www.willitsnews.com/Stories/0...507452,00.html |

This tower is actually going to be a pine tree. The branches haven't been put on yet.

I thought it looked kind of wood like, the one from Edge looks exactly the same, it's kinda hidden in the middle of some pine trees though, so it blends in pretty good, I'll take some shots of it with my phone cam and upload them. No towers or sites look like trees around here, but we have tons of Oak, Pine and Redwood, so they can blend the towers and sites in good, even on top of hills and mountains, where most of them are. I got to see cool 3D map of this area when I was in Edge's office the other day, one they don't show to customers, if there's a harder area to cover, I can't think of one after seeing that, and Edge is blowing the other guys away, and they've only been here 3 years!

This tower came on the air yesterday! I now get 4 bars along Bake & Lake Forest between the I-5 and Muirlands! My improvement wish list from Sprint is pretty much over now.
