Default Verizon's PTT

Yep, looks to be a winner, and in areas like mine where Nextel doesn't have service, the only option for PTT.

Try doing a search, as there is a lot of info in the Moto forum. But the release date is still not known.

Default Verizon's PTT

The trades, and especially the Vineyard owners here in Lake and Mendocino Counties are gonna jump all over Verizon's PTT, looks like Nextel lost another potential market, and it will lose them in Sonoma and Napa counties, since Verizon has PTT, and they cover all those areas, there would be no reason for them to keep Nextel. Nextel phones are good up here, for paperweights lol

Default Verizon's PTT

I believe the LG VX6000 is the phone you may be referring to. It seems to be due out July 8th. The cost is not known. If this isn't the phone, there are others that are due to come out with the ptt option later on in the year. I just read an article about Nextel trying to sue Verizon for using the Pust To Talk slogan. (Old article, May(?) 2003)

FYI the VX6000 is the new camera phone that is coming out soon. The PTT phones will be the Moto V60p & a LG phone which I can't remember the name.

Verizon's PTT phones will be the Moto V60P and a Samsung A690. I never heard about an LG being PTT for Verizon yet.

Default Verizon's PTT

I heard a date of August 10th for Verizon "Express It" (PTT) service to be rolled out nationwide. At least this is what I heard from employees in a local Verizon Wireless store.

I'm not all that excited about PTT for personal use but for work it would sure be nice to have some coverage. No-tel (Nextel) just doesn't cut it here. I'm on call 24/7 and here at home I'm looking at the "no service" banner and red light on my Nextel Motorola I85s.

Hurry up Verizon!!! Now if only the "sawdust for brains" management at work would actually look at getting something that works.

markv83 - Thank you for correcting me, I don't know why I thought it was a LG.

Default Verizon's PTT

Verizon has been ready to release PTT on Jul 1st but due to the Nextel suits over the name Push To Talk(tm) and the unauthorized access to VZW's ptt overlay by Nextel, it will come out later this month.

the Samsung phone will be available come September as my Samsung Insider informed me today.

like it was said, a lot of people will jump on verizons bandwagon as soon as the feature is available, perhaps the reason nextel is trying to hang on as fiercely as possible.

i hope it gets resolved soon

For a company "not worried" about the PTT competition they are sure doing every thing possible to inconvenience VZW.

Anyone that buys Nextel's "not worried" line is missing something. First of all, it just makes good business sense to be concerned when a new competitor is ready to provide a service that was once exclusive to your own. If they are honestly not worried, then the people running Nextel are fools and poor businessmen, and anyone that uses Nextel should fear that their provider may soon go out of business under such leadership. Nextel should be worried, and if they are acting out of fear they are being proactive (even if to a level of absurdity). I would have much more confidence in their ability to survive than I would if they are not worried about Verizon (and later Sprint and ATT).

Tyey are worried because Verixon has a coverage area way bigger thqan they do. When the # portibility act comes out I might switch. The biggest hurdle for verizon is not getting the patent, but latency. nextel has honed down its latency because they have 10 years of experience, Verizon and everyone else are new comers. And how is Nextel gonna get a patent for PTT when walkie talkies have been around for a while?
