Default Airtouch = Verizon (attn: Budney)

Budney and I both had bad experiences with Verizon CS, me in Ohio and him in SoCal...both of these are old Airtouch markets if I am not mistaken. I know Verizon was Airtouch in Ohio and I know they were in San Diego, but I am not sure if the rest of SoCal Airtouch became Verizon.

So if that is the case, perhaps the poor CS is a remnant of the old Airtouch way of doing things? Just a thought....

I believe New Mexico used to be an old Airtouch market, and I've found the CS here great tho.

I think bad CS dose carry over if a provider like Verizon buys out a provider like Airtouch. But I doubt Airtouch was a bad provider in all the markets they serve, just in certain ones (Ohio, SoCal, & others). I do remember that my uncle had service with Airtouch in SoCal many years ago, but left Airtouch because they screwed him over. So I do think you were right to some degree.

I have never had a problem with Verizon CS in LA, I have only had to call them twice in all my time with them 6 years now, with a good network, I have not needed to call much at all. Now I had good experiences with ATT CS, but they could never solve my busy signal problems , dropped calls, cross talk, lack of coverage, but they were nice.

Verizon's coverage here in Lake and Mendocino County stinks(they inherited the Contel and GTE poor service attitude), the only good thing about it is that it's 100% 1x CDMA now, that is if you can get a signal. Edge Wireless(AT&T Network Member)and US Cellular blow them out of the water. I always say no back to the tv when that "Can you hear me now?" guy comes on lol

Verizon switched over from Airtouch here in Michigan and I have had no problems and great CS with them except for 1 minor incident with a newbie on the other end of the phone. But that was resolved quickly.

Default Airtouch = Verizon (attn: Budney)

In the Pacific Northwest, US West New Vector Group, the cellular and paging operation run by the local Bell company, was sold to Airtouch. However, management convinced San Francisco-based Airtouch to maintain a pretty much hands-off attitude; marketing, sales, and customer service was still handled locally.

Verizon bought out Airtouch, and while they maintained the call centers in Bellevue, they've shaken things up quite a bit in the Pacific Northwest. From here on, this is strictly my opinion: customer service was always good at Airtouch in this market, but has declined with Verizon. I've noticed a significant decline in their customer service over the past year, and the network technicians are mostly based in southern California now, causing additional delays in getting problems resolved. While Verizon trumpets their "worry free guarantee" and says "your problem becomes our problem the first time you call," it's all just noise. The company doesn't empower their representatives to actually follow through on most of the meaningless promises.
