I've only used Verizon and Cingular, but I can tell you my Verizon Wireless phones perform better "overall" through OC especially South OC through all the rolling hills. Aliso Viejo, El Toro, Laguna Hills, Mission Viejo, Rancho Santa Margarita all are areas where some carriers have hard times giving consistent signal due to terrain. With the exception of some of the toll roads in North/Central OC, most carriers will be good as far as freeway and highway coverage where a lot of us spend our time. Most people will gauge coverage and assume its equal because of this. Because I deal with a lot of clients and visit them in their private homes and businesses, I feel otherwise. I've been told Cingular has the most towers in our area. Probably due to the fact they are a 1900 MHz only carrier here in California.

My husband works in OC & I did work in OC for several years...when we had ATT, my husband couldn't get a signal (he works in South OC) which was frustrating...I couldn't get a good signal in my work building... Most of the people in my workplace recommended VZW, so we swtiched...so glad we did! I worked in the field at that time & never lost a call. My husband can call me from his work now without much problem. VZW seems to be more stable in the South OC area...in North OC, ATT, VZW and Sprint seems to better... I've had VZW for over 2 years now & have had no complaints with service and signal (except for the 241/133 tolls...but don't get me started!). |

Hey Jodi, There's a new tower at the 133/241 interchange. I drove by again yesterday to check the status. It's been up for about 3 months now. Sprint is not going to be on it because they already have a site about 1/4 mile away from it along the 241. It looks big enough to accomadate 2 or 3 carriers at least. I believe Cingular/T-Mobile was the main participant for this tower. But I read that other carriers would be joining in and co-locating as part of the County approval process. So I think it looks good that Verizon will be on this one real soon. |

The problem is, VZW may not want to colocate in their Towers.

Yes it happens all the time. They simply place their equipment below or above it on the tower.

Knowing my husband drives this road 10 months of the year doesn't help...so not to have cell towers along this area is absurd!!! Sad, huh??? | |

Jodi, Unfortunately I don't see any other signs of towers except for that one (which is a good start). I'll see if I can find the article from the OC Register and send it to you. |

It's funny...I have Verizon as my phone and ATT with my Blackberry for e-mail and International....in addition I have had in the past year Sprint, Cingular and T-Mobile and Verizon far and away blows everyone away. That is what kept me from porting my number to T-Mobile or ATT for their GSM International capabilities. For just plain old mobile service you can't beat Verizon even though their phones are a bit...ugh!!! |

So then if you already knew your answer why ask the question? |

I posted it because if there is a better service, I want to know about it and try it. It's that simple
