What is the best phone with Verizon National Single Rate Plan? I want a dependable simple phone--don't need all the fancy stuff. Also, if I sign up for 150 monthly minutes and need to change to 400 monthly minutes, is there a cost to change plans after a couple of months? And, how does the free 15-day trial period work?

A good phone for a NSR plan would be a Moto V60i, if you can still find one. Or you can get a LG VX2000. I never used one, but I havn't heard anything bad about the phone. You can change to any non promotional plan at any time with out restarting your contract. The 15 day trail period for new customers work like this. At any time in the period you can return your phone & cancel service without penalty. Or if you like the sevice, but don't like the phone. You can exchange it for a new phone.

I have read good reviews on the Sanyo phones (4900, 5300, 8100). Does it really matter what phone I buy as to my satisfaction with the Verizon service? I live in Las Cruces, NM, but will visit Maine for two weeks. Will my NSR Verizon Plan allow me to make calls without extra charges? |

The phone you get definately matters, some phones just don't work well at all(Audiovox 8300 comes to mind).

Sanyo only makes phones for Sprint, so there phones won't work with Verizon. I switched from Verizon to Sprint about 2 months ago. With the NSR plans from Verizon anywhere your phone can pick up signal in the US you won't have any extra charges, so you will be fine up in Maine.

There is no cost to change plans after a couple of months with Verizon, but if you accept any promotions on a plan you will have to restart your contract. Another simple phone to consider is the Kyocera 2325. By the way, Las Cruces is a great little city.

I dont have good luck with Kyocera's. LG's and Nokia's work best with verizon along with the v60i and a few others, or so verizon reps say. You wont find a nokia but try an LG! I think they are still selling the vx10, or you could try the vx2000

If you're thinking of getting a Kyocera, you may want to think again. I'm now on my third Kyocera 2235 this year. Fortunately, both exchanges have been done under warranty, and to Verizon's credit, they have provided hassle-free handling of the phone exchanges. It was kind of surprising to me that Verizon doesn't have a way to test phones in store, like Sprint does, but Verizon's being behind technologically really shouldn't surprise me anymore. The first Kyocera 2235 got bitten by the failing display problem that was common in earlier revisions of this phone. The second one, which I swapped out today, just stopped pulling in a signal. It was weird. All of a sudden, I had 1 bar of service in my house instead of 4, and no service in my office (several miles away) where there had previously been service. Additionally, my phone was failing over to analog, which was indicative of a weak signal. I now own a lot of Kyocera accessories (which are very cheap), so I am reluctant to go with a different brand of phone. However, for my money, Motorola makes the best handsets. |

Your dropping signal all of the sudden could have been a network...there was about 2 days where everyone here with verizon, no matter what phone, was down to about one bar no matter where, even places where signal was good. In about 2 days everything was normal.

I have the V60i, good reliable phone, the only draw back it the antenna which I have broken twice. The LG 4400 and the Samsung A530 looks look good, and the vx10 my sister in law has and it seems to work well. My parents have the A310 Samsung and they seem to be happy with it.
