I'm looking into a cell phone and with all the hoopla out there it's easy to loose track of what's important. one thing that was pointed out was that some have better coverage than others. right now I'm considering Cingular but have no clue on their ability to cover. I've searched for maps of transmitter towers but cingular dosen't come up with any in NV or CA. nor does t-moblie. nextel does, as does at&t and verizon. anyone know why?

Most major providers cover Vegas well these days. I lived there a few years back. I ended up with Verizon (Alltel), but tried Cingular (NevadaBell) & Sprint. All of the major providers have trial periods to see if you like there service. I would take advantage of the trial period, usually 14-15 days to see which provider works well in your area of the Vegas Valley.

A quick search on .http://www.sprintsitesusa.com/ brought up 94 towers in the greater Las Vegas area for Sprint. This of course doesn't include all sites in Vegas but probably a good portion.

Las Vegas is covered fairly well. I roam on Verizon in Las Vegas. The only spot I have difficulty with Verizon is on the strip near the Tropicana to the Excalibur Casino area. The phone always kicks over to analog there. Other than that, it works good.

Coverage in the Metro Las Vegaas area is excellent with any carrier. Both Sprint & Cingular have even placed repeaters in some ot he major casinos. ATT probably is the weakest in Vegas suburbs but ok on the strip. Once youleave the city coverage can be spotty and Verizon probably is the best overall in the more remote areas. Hope this helps. |

Codepyro - The articale has nothing to do with Vegas coverage? Cingular has very good coverage in Vegas, even back when they were Nevada Bell. IMO there coverage is better in Vegas than in SoCal. I would of kept them when I lived in Vegas, but they had no coverage in Laughlin/Bullhead City area at the time. Which I visited often to see family.

That is now fixed, I was there April 20-25. Verizon has a tower right on a Tropicana sign, right where you are talking about. Generally, Sprint and Verizon were very solid in the Vegas area...even in the middle of no-where. Those 2 carriers have the best coverage on the strip too, with full signal in most buildings though Sprint was totally dead in Luxor. Either of these two carriers have great Vegas coverage. | |
