Hi, all, this is my first post. I used to have a Sprint (about 2 years ago) and coverage around Redondo Bch was not good. In my BF's apartment (near pier) did not get any reception, as well as some parts of Torrance, such as Mitsuwa (Carson St. at Torrance Blvd). AT&T TDMA, which I used have till March, 2003, did not get good reception around Redondo Beach as well, though it had fair reception at Torrance area where I didn't get any reception mentioned the above. Currently I have a AT&T GSM, reception at Redondo Bch area never been better though I have many dead spots, and certain building such as YMCA do not have reception at all. Well, nothing is perfect. However, I would like to know how T-Mobile, Cingular, and Verizon (which I have never been tried) coverage at the area I mentioned the above. Thanks in advance. |

I have Verizon and I just went fishing on Redondo Pier and a couple streets down by Joe's Crab Shack, Chillers etc. I got great reception. My friend who I went fishing with has Verizon and he was making calls from the Pier no problem. I'm not positive, but I think I had full signal when I was driving through Torrance to get to Rendondo Beach. |

Verizon has been known to have great coverage in CA, i suggest you try out thier 15 day trial period....if your not satisfied you can return it and cancel within 15 days....verizon is just a bit more expensive than other carriers....but i have been happy with them...i've traveled throughout the US and i never had a coverae problem....keep us updated on your choice.... one more thing stay away from the T720....for good coverage get either the lg vx4400 or the moto v60....

Sprint used to have spotty coverage along pch in redondo beach a couple of years ago but it is much improved now. I have no problems in Torrance, RB or PV. PV is very hilly obviously so I dont think any carrier is perfect up there but SPCS is working on some sites. G. |

I'd go with Verizon Wireless too! Not to say that other carriers aren't good; but time and time again if I had to put a finger on a carrier who I believe "overall" has the most reliable coverage, I'd choose VZW. I like GSM technology so that's why I also have Cingular which works great most of the time. But I know from experience my CDMA phone with VZW maintains a full signal @ more locations traveling through OC and LA counties. You can't beat its in-building coverage either. I've used both carriers for several years now when VZW was Airtouch L.A. and Cingular was PacBell Wireless and I've seen them evolve both in good and bad ways. Just remember that with VZW you need to get used to extending your antenna for optimal coverage. You're probably not used to that using AT&T TDMA or GSM. Good luck

I have verizon and love their service. I work in Torrance also and there is great service where I work and play in the south bay. I am also using the T720 and have not had any problems, but I did have to purchase the extended battery because the stock battery gets mabey 2 days on a charge. I had ATT for 3 years and their service was ok, but their CSR's were not that bright, no training and I would get a different answer from each rep I would talk to about the same problem. The have a practice of if you have poor reception by telling you "Oh in 6 months we will have a new cell up in your area just give us time". Well I gave them 3 years and still had poor reception. I tried Verizon for 2 days and switched from ATT to Verizon and have been much happier. Its nice to use my phone just about anywhere and especially in my house. Mike |

Thanks, everybody. I got to try Verizon as soon as my contract with AT&T is over. Anyways, any T-mobile or Cingular users? I'm just curious.... |
