Default T-mobile, credit check

It takes two weeks for T-mobile to run a credit check for me, just because I changed my name recenctly. Their customer service didn't know anything, and they have like 10 different department, a credit department, and risk assessment department, and customer care department.......each of those department knows nothing about other departments, when u ask them something, they'll keep saying that it is not their department's business. I had enough with T-mobile customer service, I don't recommend it.

What maxfatter said about the departments not talking to each other is so true. I worked in one of their call centers as a CCR and it was a minor miracle when issues were resolved that required communication from one department to another. T-Mobile is a great company but this is one area that needs to be improved.

T-mobile tough on credit checks? Doesn't seem like it. A close friend of mine filed for bankruptcy about a year ago and they gave her service with a contract. Who knows, maybe the sales rep needed to fulfil their quota for the month.

AT&T, and to a lesser extent VZW, are more strict than T-Mo.

Some of T-Mo's predecessor companies (namely Powertel here in the Southeast) used to be even more strict than Nextel; at one point Ptel was pushing over half of potential customers to prepaid... Needless to say when VoiceStream took control that changed VERY quickly.

It changed b/c the averge contract customer gives TM over $50 per month, while the average prepaid customer spends only $28.

We're a dealer for all the above carriers...and they usually go in this order...from easiest to hardest..

1) Sprint ( u got a name...u got a phone...barring bankruptcy..etc)
2) T-Mobile
3) AT&T
4) Cingular
5) Verizon

Are there any cell carriers that don't require a credit check?

Any prepaid wireless phone can be got without a credit check - FreeUP (Verizon network), Virgin Mobile (Sprint network), KIC (Cingular GSM network), Boost Mobile (Nextel network), Free2Go (AT&T TDMA network)...

...and of course most "unlimited" carriers (Cricket, Metro PCS, etc.), who are prepaid by design. (There are some, such as SureWest Wireless, that allow roaming and/or bill on a postpaid basis that do require credit checks.)

I've never had a problem with T-Mobile... in fact, if they don't know something, they'll put me on hold and find out, no matter what it is. If you call with a problem, they seem to give you 50 bonus minutes.

That's weird that it took two weeks for a credit check. I signed up for it (as a 21 year old male no less) and got approved instantly for a cell phone.

Michael H. Cox, you work with t-mobile or something? It takes them two weeks to resolve their credit check problems for me.
