CDMA is only officially being sold in Siskiyou County here in Nor Cal with USCC, the rest of CA should follow by Sep I am told.

That's cool, Edge has everything up and running here in Nor Cal though, they cover everywhere I go, even in the middle of nowhere in the Trinity National Forest in Trinity County! (it only has about 12,000 people in total in it, and no incorporated towns). Or in tiny little lumber and railroad towns like McCloud, in the shadow of Mt.Shasta. Everywhere they have TDMA, they have GSM. Their coverage isn't perfect by any means, there are dead spots with them too, but they are putting up sites like mad up here, 30 new sites are going up in Nor Cal just this year alone! Edge is supposed to have service in Island Park, I take it that it's only TDMA up here? I'm glad to hear you found a carrier that works for you! By the way, how's the Buffalo River this year? Is that stupid access pier/thing where Elk Creek empties into the river still there? I had dreams of blowing it up, it chased the fish out of a prime spot, with everybody bouncing up and down on it! My family's been going up there for over 100 years now, so if you want some good spots, lemme know |

Back on Island Park, I don't know why they didn't turn the rail line from Ashton, where the branch currently ends, to West Yellowstone into a tourist line, totally stupid to let it be torn up in the 80's (the last freight traffic dried up when the lumber mills mostly closed in the West Yellowstone area), the roadbed is now used as a trail, so they could re-lay the track as all the roadbed and bridges are intact and in good shape. They did that with the Grand Canyon RR, a former Santa Fe (now Burlington Northern Santa Fe, the BN and SF merged) branch from Willams, AZ right into the South Rim inside the park itself! It stops right at the lodge, so pretty! Check their link out- Grand Canyon Railway Here's a shot of one of their trains, they have 2 or 3 steam locos, and a 2 or 3 diesels ![]() The branch to Ashton by the way is now ran by the Eastern Idaho RR, who bought several secondary lines and branches from the UP, they're doing really well, and are booming with freight!(like all the railroads are now!) Wear I camp at Lyle Springs just below Bishop Mountain I always had good Edge service Their but last time it was really spotty. Don't know if their working on towers or what. One of the guys at Edge was up their to and he said he did not know what was going on. I really have enjoyed Edge in the last 3 years but what I am looking at is my Son has USCC and it seems that everyplace we go up hear he beats my coverage by about a mile furhter back in than what I can get. | |

Sounds good! We usually fish the Buffalo and the Snake (the non fly fishing parts, especially just above Macks Inn on Big Springs Road) when we're up there, don't do much lake fishing, we're more waders and stream kinda guys |
