No surprise--Cricket is not in any financial position to build out new networks. I'm surprised they're still in business, honestly.

CricKet actually seems to be doing just fine. They announced new roaming plans to take your phone with you when you leave town, and seem to have some pretty well built out markets right now.
I'm not surprised they don't want to build out a network in areas like Anchorage.
