Hi All, In an attempt to improve my "nerd-skillz" I built a page that will scan and return some basic info about anyone who accesses it (such as: IP address, location, browser, OS, screen resolution, etc.) The whole scan should take about 10-20 seconds on a typical connection (maybe slower on dial-up or 2G). The TraceRoute takes about 10 seconds, this traces all router IP addresses between my server in Dallas and your PC. The port-scan also takes a few seconds as it scans all 65,000 ports of your IP address looking for any open ones, but shouldn't find any...unless you aren't behind a firewall! I would appreciate some feedback, as I am still building it and have only tested it on Windows and Linux (Ubuntu and SLAX) and with IE, Netscape, Firefox, Konqueror and Opera browsers. I'd be interested in feedback from MAC's and mobile devices, since I haven't tested these yet (except one Blackberry, which worked OK, but showed the location of the Blackberry server in Waterloo, Canada and not the actualy location of the user). Thanks in advance for all who leave feedback! RadioRaiders System Check PS- If the page doesn't load after 1 minute then something is probably wrong and is hanging, so just close the browser and please report the error to me.

You could improve UI greatly by using AJAX that way you won't have to explain that the page takes a while to load. As it is now, it takes 15-20 seconds just to see the graphic that advises you the wait is necessary. Other than that, your nerd skills seem to check out |

AJAX, yea, you're probably right, but I'm teaching myself programming as I go along, and AJAX looked like too much of a headache Thanx, I was hoping the skulls would be a counter-balance

The location map was about 1,000 miles off for me... What probably threw it off was I was proxied through AOL when I did it... -Jay

AJAX can be daunting at first, but there are plenty of libraries to simplify development | |
