Default Wireless News Websites

Ever wonder how rancidhooligan "knows" so much useless crap about the wireless industry? Wonder no more as he reveals his "secrets" to staying on top of the ever-changing cellular world. Behold these sites in all their magnificence! Bask in their wireless glory! Stare in wonder at their bluer-than-blue hypertext links!

General Information Sites:

Wireless Advisor.com
Where would we be without this wireless site... it's the best of the best IMHO. Be a wireless moron no more! Terms defined! Mysteries solved! The best wireless forum on the web!

Cellular News.com
Wireless news from around the world. A lot of ads, some popups but good overall content. The stories are a bit short but they usually have some pretty funny or weird stories about once a week.

The Inquirer
A Brittish site with somewhat humorous articles, not too much good info but there are a few articles that have substance.

Internet Wireless News
Features and news... your basic site.

My Rate Plan.com
Good site for wireless beginners looking for their first plan. A stop here and at WA are a must for first timers!

Motorola Media Center
Pretty self-explanitory, the press release section of Motorola's website, really only good if you're a hardcore Motorola dork, like me!

Network World Fusion
Usually has good stories on EV-DO, Wi-Fi, EDGE, wireless operating systems, smart phones, etc.

RCR Wireless News
Best wireless news site on the web IMHO. They update the page a little late in the morning but pretty much have all the days' breaking wireless news. The print version is not bad, either.

Wireless Review
Great, in-depth features. Only updated once a month as the website is a companion to the print version.

Wireless Week
The news is pretty much the same as RCR, the features are not as good as Wireless Review but a good site, none the less.

Handset Information Sites:

Phone Scoop.com
Duh... the master of disaster when it comes to websites about wireless handsets in the US. A must have for your favorites list.

ThreeGMobile.net
Cool if you want to see all the off-the-wall handsets available in Asia and elsewhere... sort of a glimpse into the future because you probably won't see these handsets on US shores for 3-4 years.

Mobile Burn
Good all around handset site.

Mobil Mania
A Czechoslovakian site, I think (?) Good pictures of just-about-to-be relased phones, sometimes. Obviously hard to read but the pics are good!

Here are some I forgot...

Federal Communications Comission
What would the wireless industry do without these guys and gals?.. probably a lot more to be honest with you.

CDMA Development Group
You can find some interesting stuff here but if you try and access the website via a GSM device it will fry it... j/k.

C.T.I.A.
They fight for our rights as wireless subscribers. Sometimes they say some pretty stupid stuff but their heart is in the right place most of the time.

I got a new computer at work and didn't save my favorites correctly so when they installed the new CPU I lost all that info. Thanks for the link, I've now added it to my faves and saved it correctly this time!

Here are some more...

www.cellreception.com

Site Descripiton - You can search (by zip code or city/state) for reviews on cellular reception in a specific area (right down to the road). These are real people putting in real reviews not some person who works with the company trying to make their service seem superior.

On this site as well as a cellular reception review area their is a place where you can check out "dead zones" by states

Also search for exact tower locations! The tower locator gives you information such as: Tower Location, Tower Height/Elevation, Map of Tower Location, Longitutde/Latitude for Tower and Company who owns the tower. (For any carrier in the area)

You may also add your own review about your cellular carrier in a certain area.

then....
