I got a letter from a collection agency saying I have an unpaid debt to VZW. My account is in good standing. So I call to find out what's going on, the first guy spouts off the whole "one call resolution" stuff, can't figure it out, sends me to financial services. Understandable. The guy in FS tells me he'll only deal with active accounts (my account is active and in good standing) and that I'll have to wait to tomorrow to call some other department which is closed. I informed him that he shouldn't spout out one call resolution if he won't bother to even check my account and just tells me to call someone else tomorrow. Oh boy. |

Fathead - did the collection agency notice give you enough information to confirm that the account they're trying to collect on is your current account? Is it possible that the account they're referencing is an account from years ago (possibly from BAM, GTE or AirTouch) that you thought was long gone? And, for that matter, have you confirmed with the collection agency that the notice is legit? There should be at least a phone number on the collection agency's letter. I don't know how much of an answer you'd get from VZW. In many situations, once a company turns an account over to a collection agency, it's considered to be 'closed' by the company, and either they get their money or they don't.

I agree with Critic. I would also get a case number or reference number and the person that you spoke with for your personal records.

I only got cell service in 2001, so i wasn't with a vzw predecessor. And I don't care if he couldn't find anything, the point is that he didn't try, he told me he only dealt with active accounts (which is what I have) and that I would have to call someone else, (which in my mind is not one call resolution). |
