someone online said u can join on a friends account and then transfer before the next month. is this true?

Depends.

If you have somebody add you to their account as an added line, the credit check is done on them at that point. But if you then want to move the line into your name, whether a few weeks or a few years later, they WILL run credit on you at that point to see if you would need to have a deposit.

It's not the line but the person.
