Default My Alltel switch to Verizon

What a disappointment. I went ahead and am now with Verizon. I talked to someone @ the store about getting 2 Blackberry Storms for my kids (the one's w/the 2 phones for $49.00 deal). We went over the plans, and I signed up for $89.00 month for both phones - awesome.

Here's the catch, so watch out! I was told I could get a data plan for the 2 Blackberry's for $30.00 (not bad I thought, $15 each), so I did. I get my bill and guess what?? Each phone has a $30.00 charge for the data and on top of that, when I call customer service I'm told I can't get rid of the data package, its now part of the contract. "The person at the store shouldn't have told you that it was 'optional'." (no sheet Shirlock)

At the end here's what I have - my great deal of 2 phones for $89.00/mo costs me $172.00/mo!

Can you believe it!

I wouldn't recommend Verizon to anyone that's considering it - wow what a disappointment in the people that represent the company and the company itself!

No way you can't get 2 lines of unlimited voice & 5GB data at $89/mo total.

Until recently (AFAIK) one line of unlimited voice alone was $99/mo,
and add the data on top of that for a total of about $129+ per line per month.
Multiple lines multiply what you'll be paying.

Actually $172/mo for 2 lines with voice & 3G data is somewhat of a good deal for what you are getting.
If this was last year that would probably cost over $300/mo.

Sadly yes. I can believe it. The biggest error on the part of the store rep was the single $30 date charge, as with Blackberry's and other smartphones, the charge is always per line.

I'm guessing you got the Family (2 lines) 1400 Minutes/5 Friends & Family plan for $89.99, and with $60 for data on 2 lines, which equals $150.00 plus taxes

Not to defend Verizon, but misleading information happens with ALL carriers. But when it happens with Verizon or AT&T, it ends up being expensive.

He didn't get the unlimited plan, likely the 1400 Family plan for $89.99.

If you did this in the store you signed something for the purchase, for each phone line. Each one would have listed the $30 data feature. I deal with this every day so all I can say is look closely at what you are signing!
