Verizon rumored to be raising ETF to combat scammers Boy Genius Report

The rumor is, that starting November 15, Verizon is going to raise its ETF for high-end phones, such as the Storm2 and Droid, to $350. The ETF would then decrease by $5/mo.

Thanks to those who've ripped them off enough that they're possibly going to implement this increased ETF policy on certain phones for ruining it for the rest of us.

Grrrr.... I guess the marketplace will not allow VZW to just raise the price of the phone. The iPhone has really cemented the $200 ceiling as few smartphones sell over that amount.

If this comes to fruition, it should apply to those who got the phones at a promotional price. It better not apply to those who bought the phones without a subsidy.

And something tells me that other carriers will follow suit like sheep to the slaughter

Not mad at the telcos for trying to mitigate their losses... sometimes I wish I could pick the phone and then service but the US market is so out of sync, there will be no going back.

According to Boy Genius Report, it is official Verizon is increasing the ETF for "advanced devices".

The ETF will be $350, with a $10 reduction every month completed in the contract.

Confirmed: Verizon Wireless to charge up to $350 early termination on “advanced devices” Boy Genius Report
