I was/am an Alltel customer. I live in Isabella county in Michigan which will eventually be sold off by Verizon. What I am wondering is are my only real options for service now ATT and Sprint? I haven't had much luck with either company in the past. I asked what was happening with the merger at my local store and was told that nothing will change for about a year and a half. The big problem is that my contract is up and I would like to get a new phone for as cheap as possible which means signing another contract. Also if anyone has any advice on which phones have the best reception and sound quality that would be great to hear as well.

The AT&T Mobility PCS network is about the same as you remember it, but it's about to be augmented by the Centenial cellular network. This press release shows that AT&T has clearance from the US DOJ to complete the transaction, after some divestiture in Louisiana, of buying Centennial Wireless. So you could go to Centennial, if you like their plans and phones better. If you want an iPhone, go to AT&T Mobility. COtech

Mainly I want a phone that has great reception and call quality. I don't need a camera or internet or music. I guess I am the odd person that just wants a phone. As far as carriers go I want good coverage all over MI.

You might enjoy browsing the phones at phonescoop.com. They can be searched by carrier or manufacturer, or several other ways. COtech
