Default ESN for Alias

Hopefully someone can help me. I have a phone on my plan that was damaged, I'm trying to activate an old phone I have to replace it but I'm not sure what group of numbers under the battery are the ESN or MEID number. The phone I'm trying to activate is a Samsung Alias SCH-U740. There are 2 sets, 1 has 11 numbers the other is 7 numbers and 1 letter. Any help would be great, I know I can go to the Verizon store and have them do it but I've been told they charge and that I could just do it online or call *228 and do it myself for free.

You can go to a Verizon store or call CS and just ask them what numbers you should be looking for. This won't cost you a penny and then you can activate it online. If they offer to do it for you, tell they why you don't want to (because of a charge). They might surprise you and do it for free.

Hmm, if I remember right from my CDMA days, both numbers are the same. The 11 digit is decimal & the 8 character is Hex. I believe for your purpose you would use the 11 digit one.

Thank you both for your quick response. I'll try the group with eleven numbers first and if it doesn't work I'll try customer service. Thanks again for the help

Either number would work. They both are the same number, just in different format (11 digit is decimal, 8 digit is hexadecimal).

Doing the ESN change is free; there is no charge to do it via a phone call to CS or a Sales Office.

I thought they weren't charging anymore, but wasn't absolutely sure. Good to know.

They even have an automated system for activation at 611. I received a FRU device on Friday. For whatever reason, the system would not take my ESN and the HEX wasnt on the label. I called 611 and after a2nd call to *228, all is set
