Hey my contract is ending on Dec. 9 2008, so i was wondering weather to get the dare or the storm -This is with a $250 spending limit maybe $300, if the Storm costs over that i'm getting the Dare, but i've heard the blackberry might be the same price if not lower than the iphone Here is how i am planning on using the phones (Most to least) -Txting -Camera/Video (would like to know the camera and video resolution if anyone has info) -Music(Maybe use the phone instead of my crappy ipod)and i loove music btw -Calling -Web browsing isn't a big issue Thanks, SPF |

Since you left email off of your list, get the Dare. You can use a less expensive data plan (VPACK @ $15) instead of a $30 BB data plan. There really is no point in using a BB if you don't need Web, email, or calenar functionality. Spend some time with each device in the store--I returned the Dare because of the pain I had trying to scroll Web pages. I think that would be true for any touch screen device, except the Moto Krave which has a touch screen, but let's you scroll Web pages with a hardware button--don't know if the Bold will have anthing like this. |

Blackberry's are more functional for very professional work....and they are known for the email capabilities and that's what most business customers get them for........if email really isn't an issue get the dare.... same thing with web browsing.......blackberrys are good for it but if you won't be using it much the dare can handle your needs just fine

I would have to say it depends on if you want to incorp things like facebook (i know that may sound childish). The Storm has apps that you can add onto it as far as that kinda thing goes. And the blackberry will be similar to blackberrys in the past as far as menus but oh so much cooler.

Odds are that if you are a casual messaging and web user, and like to have access to it every now and then from a mobile device, the LG Dare would be more up to your speed and sense of style. The Storm, like most BlackBerry devices, is designed with the business user in mind. Unlike most BlackBerry devices, though, the Storm is trying to become that one device that fits all; with a touchscreen that will appeal to general consumers as well. I don't know of many executives that really need a 3.2 MP camera, but it sports one. I say that there are three levels of devices within Verizon: Dumbphones Smartphones Blackberry One level isn't necessarily higher than the other, but you have three different paths. Dumbphones are going to be the first to have access to media features and subscription-based content on the VZW network. Smartphones operate off of a desktop-style OS that is usually integrated tightly with the eqiupment it is produced for. BlackBerry devices are more geared towards road-warriors that need full-time access to e-mail. You can do a lot with Smartphones, but as of Nov. 14th you are required to purchase the $30 data plan along with the phone. If you don't see yourself using the net a lot, and don't need to play games on emulators or purchase a stand-alone GPS receiver to circumvent the need for VZ Navigator, I'd go with a "dumbphone". The Dare has had favorable reviews. |

I tried the Blackberry and then got the Dare. The Dare is unbelievable. It's got great resolution, great rf pick up capability, great sounds, and easy to use for texts, email, etc. The picture taking is easy and great to use when you get used to it. Night shots are a bit tricky, but overall, its a great camera. The video function is fabulous. LG hit a home run with this phone. If you're not into business app's, heavy email usuage, browzing the internet daily, etc., go fo the Dare. Try it for 30 days with Verizon.

It's been a long time since I had a non-BB phone. If you go from a BB to a Dare, and you want access to your ISP email account, what are the biggest differences you'll see? No push? Slower send/receive? More difficult to use? |
