Default not enough signal strength

I have a new phone. It is the Moto W755. It works pretty good and I like the programing to go from screen to screen. My problem is when I go to the AFB here in town, I have a problem getting calls when other carriers (ATT and Sprint) have no problem. I was told that an external antena would probably help. Can anyone help me with this problem. I have good receiption elsewhere.
