New Phone on Secondary Line

My contract as a secondary line was up in April 2007, at which point I purchased a new Krzr. They kept malfunctioning & Verizon kept replacing them. By October, I'd been through so many phones that I was eligible for some sort of deal where they gave me a similar but better phone of their choice (the LG Shine flip), on the condition that I extend my 2-year contract.

I'm now hoping to get the Voyager, as I need something with a keyboard. I've researched the hell out of this but keep getting conflicting answers-- is it possible for me to purchase the Voyager at the new customer price if I extend my contract? It seems logical to me that it would be possible, but I wouldn't be surprised if they made me extend my contract when it was convenient for them but not for me.

Secondary lines aren't eligible for a discounted upgrade until the 20th month of a 2 year contract. If you got promotional pricing and a contract extension back in April 2007, you wouldn't be eligible until December 2008... You can see exactly when you can get a discounted upgrade by logging into My Account at the Verizon site and clicking on your phone....
