Hello everyone. My NE2 is up in a few weeks, and I plan on holding off until November when (my own suspicion) Verizon will make the HTC Touch Pro available (confirmed for Q4, but I'm guestimating 6 weeks prior to xmas to take adavantage of holiday shoppers). Anyway, I can't seem to figure out the difference between a 'full blown' data plan vs. Mobile Web 2.0. Here are my questions specifically: 1) Given the price difference, what am I not able to do/have to pay extra for if I went with Mobile Web 2.0. I plan on surfing the web, emailing (via gmail), and (rarely) downloading to the phone directly. 2) Given the Touch Pro is a smartphone, will Verizon even let me pick Mobile Web 2.0 or force me into a data plan? I searched the forums and discovered blackberry's must have a data plan...not sure if that extends to all smartphones. Apologies if this was covered before, but I searched and came up empty. Thanks in advance! |

If you choose a BlackBerry, a data plan is required, pay per use and mobile web aren't available. Mobile web allows you to view sites and check web email... Downloads are only allowed through the Get It Now service; Get it now is only available on most non smartphones. If you want email sent to your device and you have a normal phone, you have to pay a monthly fee for one of the email clients. On the newer plans, mobile web is included for $2/MB or $15 (or even included at no additional cost depending on plan) for the non smartphones. | |
