Motorola Adventure V750 Works Hard So Verizon Wireless Customers Can Play Hard

With High-Performance Features and Military-Grade Construction, This Exclusive Push to Talk Phone is the Rugged Solution for Active Customers

07/21/2008

BASKING RIDGE, NJ, and LIBERTYVILLE, IL — Verizon Wireless and Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) announced that the Motorola Adventure™ V750, a rugged Push to Talk phone designed for the most extreme conditions, will be available beginning today through business sales channels and online at Cell Phones, Cell Phone Plans, Cell Phone Accessories - Verizon Wireless. Ideal for the highly-mobile and active individual, the feature-rich V750 offers a durable and reliable solution for Verizon Wireless Push to Talk customers and leverages the high-speeds of the Verizon Wireless Evolution-Data Optimized (EV-DO) Revision A (Rev. A) network. The Motorola Adventure V750 will be available in Verizon Wireless Communications Stores beginning July 28.

The Motorola Adventure V750 meets military specifications for extreme conditions including shock, vibration, dust, solar radiation, high-temperature storage, high and low temperature operation, and altitude. With Verizon Wireless’ Push to Talk capabilities and a large 2.2-inch high-resolution internal display and 1.6-inch external display, customers can easily see which friends and colleagues are available and speak to them instantly. The phone’s no-slip surface and speaker make the V750 tough and functional enough for a day on the job site, an afternoon hike or a night out at the club.

Verizon Wireless’ Push to Talk service leverages EV-DO Rev. A technology, which provides customers with fast two-way communication with one person or a group of people. In addition to the simplicity of one number, national coast-to-coast coverage and no hidden charges or fees, Verizon Wireless’ Push to Talk customers can expect:

* Network Reliability – with the enhanced Push to Talk service, customers get an instant connection feature combined with the best wireless coverage in the United States
* Presence Information – similar to instant messaging, Verizon Wireless’ Push to Talk subscribers can see who is “on” and available to receive a Push to Talk call
* Online enterprise contact management tool to easily manage a business’ Push to Talk contacts from a Web-based interface

The rugged V750 also helps businesses keep productivity high, thanks to Verizon Wireless’ location-based services, including VZ Navigator(SM) and Field Force Manager. With VZ Navigator, customers can get audible maps, turn-by-turn directions and location information to more than 14 million points of interest that customers can share with others. Field Force Manager gives Verizon Wireless customers a resource management tool that provides businesses with the ability to locate, monitor and communicate with their mobile field workers – right on their mobile devices.

The Motorola Adventure V750 plays as hard as it works, offering customers access to entertainment services and more, including:

* V CAST Music with Rhapsody – Download music directly from the phone using the service to access a library of more than 5 million songs, purchase full-songs over-the-air, and download the master copy of the songs to their PCs free of digital rights management software that restricts how and where music can be played. Customers can also sync favorite tracks, albums and playlists from a PC (requires a separately purchased data cable).
* Dedicated external music keys for easy access to music
* Stereo Bluetooth® wireless technology (handset supports Bluetooth A2DP and AVRCP profiles)
* Mobile IM and chat capabilities
* Mobile Web – customizable, enhanced wireless access to the latest in news, sports, weather and more
* Media Center – download games, ringtones, wallpapers and more
* V CAST Video – customers can stay entertained with the hottest clips, including sports highlights, breaking news, weather and more
* 2.0 megapixel camera
* 2.5 mm headset jack
* Text, picture and video messaging capabilities
* microSD™ card memory port with up to 8 GB support with optional memory card

The Motorola Adventure V750 is available for $99.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate and a new two-year customer agreement. Corporate discount pricing is available. Verizon Wireless customers can add Unlimited Push to Talk for $10 per month, per line to any Nationwide voice plan.

Will this phone be able to use data at REV A speeds? Or is that reserved specifically reserved for PTT?

I would believe so. I'm sure since it's got Rev. A capability, it's for everything, not just PTT.

My wife got one of these for me a few days ago. So far, I really like the phone. PTT works great! Haven't had much time to really play with all of the other features yet (ringtones, Vcast, camera etc.) Plan to play with the phone more this weekend.

Any tricks to getting ringtones on the Motorola Adventure V750? I have tried sending tones to my phone using both an e-mail account and VZWPIX. I have tried .midi, .wav, .mp3 etc. My tones get stored in "My Sounds" and not "My Ringtones" in the Media Center on the phone. When entering or editing contacts, the tones in "My Sounds" are not available to be used as a ringtone.
Thanks for any help.

Unless you're able to flash or modify the restrictions of Verizon's UI, there's no way to get additional ring tones on your phone without going through VZ's proprietary Get It Now/Media Center portal.

Default Two weeks with the Motorola Adventure V750

After two weeks with my Motorola Adventure V750, I must say that I am very satisfied with both the phone and Verizon's new PTT service.
Here are several things that I like about the phone:
1. Loud, crisp and clear speaker! Great for PTT "walkie-talkie" chats. Speaker phone function works great for me.
2. Did I mention the loud speaker? I can actually hear this thing ring. (Some of us "older" folks don't hear as good as we used to)
3. Great RF performance. Phone calls, PTT, Mobile Web and Vcast all work in weak signal areas.
4. Voice commands actually work for me on this phone. Nice feature while driving and using a bluetooth earpiece.
5. Best bluetooth performance of any phone I have used. Works great with a Motorola HS700 earpiece. Have not tried any other bluetooth accessories like headphones or car kits yet.
6. Supports 8-gig micro SD cards. This phone will not replace my Sandisk Sansa but it is nice to always have a few hundred of your favorite tunes with you at all times.
7. Battery life is decent. Stock battery would get me through a whole day with no problem. Got the extended battery a few days ago and I am satisfied with the battery life.
8. Nice, easy to read screen.
9. GUI was easy for me to figure out and use.
10. Huge phonebook. Can store multiple phone numbers and e-mail addresses for 1000 contacts and can store an additional list of 500 PTT contacts. I have a lot of friends but really, I don't think I will ever fill up the phonebook on this phone.

The following are not necessarily cons but...
1. Included ringtones leave a lot to be desired. Have tried BitPim and P2Kcommander but have had no luck adding ringtones.
2. Hope they come out with a nice leather case with a decent belt clip.

As for the battery cover, I have not had any issues with mine.

Now, I just got to get the rest of my family and friends to get Verizon PTT.

It's completely EVDO Rev. A BREWChat. No more Kodiak. Kodiak was discontinued when they dumped the last remaining phone that carried it, which was about a month ago.

Rockhound,

I also just recently purchased the V750's for both myself and my wife. These were upgrades from the V710's that we've had for almost 4 years or so... I too have been racking my brain as to how and get personal ringtones into the new phones (V750). I noticed you are also from UT, so for you and other members who own the V750, here's the way I finally did it just this morning (yea!):
Use the website Free Ringtones and Wallpaper - FreeRingers.net (I am not affiliated in any way with the company, in fact I'm currently a Letter Carrier with USPS). I subscribed to the service ($9.99 for a lifetime, unlimited downloads) about 3-4 years ago). I noticed that they do not list the V750 as a phone model, so I just used my old model - the Motorola V710. Ok, considering that you are signed up... I chose to relay an MP3 ringtone, browsed my computer for the MP3 file, selected my phone number and left the carrier as Verizon. Once sent, it showed up on my phone as a new message. Open the message (the ringtone will play), select option, select save, and then select set. Two options show up - save as new ringtone or save as new ringer (or something like that). I chose to save as new ringtone. Wola! Then just select your contact to edit, scroll down to ringtone, choose set, and it shows up (yellow w/lock sign instead of green w/lock sign). Done!
Here's the good news! The cost of the service is less than what you'd pay for a mini usb cable and all of the work. The bad... I'll probably get hit with a charge on my bill for the message received (25 cents I believe). Freeringers also provides free tools to download along with instructions so you can create, crop or whatever your ringtones.
For wallpaper and regular MP3's, I just copied them onto my micro sd card (wallpaper to my_pix and MP3's to my_music). Just make sure that you format the sd card with the phone first. Then you can use the phone to "move" them to your phone from the card. If anyone out there needs detailed instructions on how to do this, let me know...
BTW, I considered the Gzone Boulder, but the external sound was crappy and customer reviews stated that earpiece sound quality was also lacking....
How does the extended battery work for you on the V750??

MrGunny,
Thanks for the advise on getting ringtones on the V750. I'll give it a try this weekend when I have more time to play around.
The extended battery is working great for me. The regular battery would get me through a day OK but I always like having as much battery as possible so I got the extended battery. Are you getting through a full day on the regular battery? The extended battery makes the back of the phone a little thicker but I don't mind. Haven't had any problems with the battery covers.
After a couple of weeks, my V750 quit working properly. I would hear the alert tones from PTT calls but never could hear any audio. Others would hear me but I could not hear others. Speaker phone quit working, phone would not ring when receiving calls and it would randomly dial numbers from the received calls list. Got the phone exchanged Saturday but nothing (PTT, Vcast, mobileweb etc.) was working. After a call to *611 and over an hour of working with Verizon tech support, they could not figure out what was going on. They opened up a trouble ticket and this morning I noticed that everything is working again.
Have heard more bad than good about the Boulder. I am really liking my V750. My wife is up for "new every two" and I think we can get another V750 for almost nothing. We'll see if she wants to get one.
Glad to hear that the V750 is working good for you and your wife. When you get a minute, check out this website: Sprint Nextel DC & VZW-PTT net - Connect directly with other Sprint Nextel Users
They have a Verizon PTT area. I have joined the Verizon Private area there and have enjoyed PTT chats with the people there.
I'll PM you with my Verizon number and if you want, we can try some PTT tests.
Thanks again for the help with the ringtones. I just got an 8-gig card for my phone so I should be all set to play around with ringtones and put a few hundred MP3 songs on it.
C U L8R - Rocky.

Rockhound,

Thanks for the reply! The stock battery has only had one hiccup so far, it lasted a day or so, showed good bars and then went dead the next day. Best guess is that I did not have the external keys locked... After charging the battery and locking the front panel keys it seems to hold a charge pretty well for 2-3 days. Still, like you, I'll be looking for the extended life battery. I don't have the PTT service... not really practical for my situation. The one thing I have noticed is when I had the option to set the new ringtone after I downloaded it, by setting it as a new ringtone it must have set it as the DEFAULT. I played around with the phone and found that you can set another ringtone as your default, although the UI or instructions don't really give you any up front wording as to how to do it. I probably should have set it as a new ringer instead. Anywho, all things considered, I am satisfied with the V750. I think they tried to put too many bells and whissles on the phone without perfecting each one. On the good side, I've already dropped the phone once, and it barely scratched the body and it continues to work fine. Being with the Post Office, I bought one at $50, paid $50 for the second and qualified for a $50 mail in rebate. All things considered, I don't regret selecting this phone, but I am disappointed with all the hoopla associated with the Boulder, only to see that so many people were let down with the final product. Casio and Verizon could have made it a really hot selling product... For the V750, let's just hope that the charging port cover doesn't become seperated! BTW Verizon, great QC on the V750 phone coupled with the holster - the top of the holster blocks the camera lens with the flip open....

mrgunny,

Thanks again for telling me about the ringtone website. Got all signed up - they had a special - $7.99 for one year! Glad that my wife also got the unlimited TXT/PIX/FLIX plan for me with 500 "non Verizon" messages included as I have already made and sent about a dozen tones to my V750. It works great!

Enjoy your V750's - I'm liking mine.

Anyone using bluetooth or wired stereo headphones or stereo earpieces with the Motorola Adventure V750? Although I just put an 8-gig memory chip in the phone and loaded up a few hundred songs, the phone is not going to replace my MP3 player. I would be using the headphones mostly while watching videos on Vcast and occasional use for listening to music.
Thanks ahead of time for any feedback.

Just answered my own question. Picked up a set of universal earphones at the Verizon store today. They are part number DIGCRVSHS35. They sound pretty decent. They will work just fine for me while listening to music stored on the phone and for watching Vcast videos without disturbing others around me. I can even answer calls while using them.

I got one of these phones along with the rest of us on the County task force & MAC's & it's been working ok so far.
2 issues have been a problem so far. 1 is the lack of the automatic keys locking on the outside buttons, myself & especially the 1st person listed in the PTT group has been getting accidently called by the phone hitting someones leg or seatbelt, that is a pain & the person on the list now doesn't always answer when your calling him.

I had an issue last week where I couldn't use the PTT at all, it claimed there was no Data service, yet the Chief was with me & he could use his with no problem. I eventually had to remove the battery for a few minutes for it to work again.

Other then getting use to the sick PTT sound when someone directly connects, the delay is minimal & not something I can complain about & the sound quality is better then the Nextel (only once did someone say I was in a fish tank)
Lot's more testing to do with it, the phone call quality is better then my LG Env & it holds the signal better.
