When you get the replacement phone (hope you had VZ deactivate the old phone) just call them up and give them the ESN and they'll activate the new phone. Make sure the phone you get is E911 capable.

Telekom... Thanks for the info. I did deactivate the lost phone. So if I understand this correctly I can just buy a "Verizon" type phone (CDMA) and Verizon will activate it. No SIm card for these phones, right? Should I expect Verizon to charge for activation? I am hoping to get a good phone for a reasonable price. Ebay or other.
Any suggestions for good places to buy, used or new OK, would be appreciated.
Thanks again. Seattlebob.

Be careful about ebay and the like, I've seen more than a handful of people wind up getting a phone they can't activate (because it's marked stolen) or where it isn't in the shape that it was advertised as.

True this is why you should always ask for the ESN number and look at the sellers feedback to make sure they are trust worthy.

If they dont supply a ESN do not buy it.

Follow the advise mentioned above. If you are looking for a replacement phone on e-Bay, make sure you can get the ESN number to check it out with Verizon first. You don't want to buy a phone that ends up being listed as a "stolen" ESN in their system.

If you have an online account with Verizon, you should be able to input the new phone that way. As long as you are the master account holder on the account. There is no activation fee for doing the ESN swap online, but there may be a charge if you call CS to do it.

There are no SIM cards in CDMA phones, so you have nothing to worry about there.
