I will be getting a new phone soon and am looking for opinions on what brand phone tends to be the best on the VZW network. I am in NE TN and have been using the Motorola E815 for the past 2 years and it has been nearly flawless.

Stick with Motorola. It's an American company with over 50+ years of radio experience. Samsung and LG are low-cost Korean companies who know little about radio communications. They focus on design and color instead of functionality. To them phones are just another product in their portfolio alongside refridgerators, air conditioners and TV's. PS- I dig your bike ;-)

I've gone through the gammit..... I had the Samsung a670 and loved it. Had the Motorola v60i and loved it. Had the LG vx8300 and hated it. Of the three, I liked the Motorola the best as it was the most reliable of the three, sound-wise, and performance-wise. |

I recently upgraded to the V9M. It's only my opinion but I think it's a good looking phone. It's made of glass and metal. It's reception is as good if not better than my 815. Motorolas also have excellent speaker phones. My daughters opted for the Samsung U740. They say their phones work everywhere the 815 did.

I have only owned three Verizon phones: the LG VX3300, Samsung SCH A930, and the Motorola Q. The 3300 picked up signal ok... I have had no major signal issues with it. My Samsung 930 had some RF issues... I started to drop calls and had problems hearing callers although they could hear me. Also, my phone would remain in extended network although the native signal is sufficient. My Q is a signal hog... I get great signal. Even in low signal areas, calls are crystal clear. I dropped only 2 calls in the 6 months I have used it. I was drawn to Motorola after I bought my mom a V325. She managed to break and lose the antenna and the signal was almost as good as before... unlike my 930. I want to use Samsung, but my recent experience has me scared. For me, I'll be using Motorola or LG for plain phones... I wonder how the Blackberries perform in the RF department.

I have never owned an LG that didn't give me problems. I went through 10 in one year. From my experience, Motorolas have always had the best signal and sound quality. I think Samsung makes slightly better phones with slightly worse signal and sound quality. |

I've owned a few phones with Verizon. My first was the LG VX5200. It was a basic, bread & butter type phone but that was all that I could afford at the time. I only got the phone because I was going to a Cardinals game later that day and my wife needed a way to get a hold of me. We had been using a GoPhone from Cingular and taking turns when one of us went out. After a year of that, I switched to the SCH-U540 by Samsung. My favorite phone so far. No issues other than battery life, and since conditioning the battery I've managed to avoid the pitfalls associated with that. I've never owned a Motorola, but fell in love with their V60t when I worked for Cingular. I could have gone with the W385C, but I need EV-DO. |

the only thing that gets better reception for me when im out in the country is a Nokia6030 that seems to pickup everywhere...i think that they were designed to work out in the sticks though from what im told. Anyhow, Nokia's and Rim's are definetly 2 of my favorites. i know they were left out of the title of this though

I have owned 4 brands on Verizon: 1. Motorola T720 2. LG VX 6000 3. LG VX 6100 4. KG VX 7000 5. Samsung A670 6. Nokia 3589i I liked the A670 the best for quality and performance, the 6000 the best for performance but not for quality (had to have it changed 6 times for hinge problems), the 3589i for being a dependable basic work horse, and absolutely hated the T720. I have had more Motorolas than any other brand (closely followed by Nokia), however I have noticed that their quality and workmanship is not always as good as it had been in the past. Just my 2 cents

If you've had good success with Motorola, I'd recommend staying with them. I can't stand Samsuck. LG has good phones, but I haven't owned one in a while.

LG's are getting better, espically on VQ. but i still worry about the reliability of many of them. if i had to rank these 3 your lookin at id say: 1.LG 2.Moto (just because they are not what they use to be, otherwise id rate them 1) 3. Samsung |

A couple we are good friends with has two of whatever Samsung Cingular was giving away for free or a nominal cost when they turned in their TDMA phones. That I believe was about 4 years back, they still have and use and love it, never been a problem. They sound crystal clear on my end.

I had such a bad experience with the SCH-a790 world phone, some years back, I swore I'd "never" get another Samsung. The A670 was also a good phone, but most everything else they now have on VZ is forgettable. They seem to make a lot of phones, but I can never really tell what the differences are.

the only reason i give samsung is that they sometimes have reliability issues. but like many phones it is usually user error. Never the less, i tend to have more reception problems with samsungs than i do with any other maker, probably bc the area im in is quiet spotted with low areas and a phone with a strong reciever is almost a must. unless you are always finding yourself in a place that has great service, sometimes its not the best choice. but they do make some great devices Actually i do love the new Samsung SLM which can do Napster OTA and comes with a 512mb micro SD. pretty sweet phone. i would rock that one |

I love my U540 for what it is able to do. However: My needs have outgrown the phone, and I've had it off and on for the last year. What's sad is that I've got a while to wait to technically upgrade the right way with VZW. We'll see. |

I dont know why people dislike the VX8300 and LG in general. I have that phone with Verizon and never had a problem with it. Reception was good. and i dont know what you did or where you bought that phone from that made you go though 10 phones in one year Motorola is better with reception in wooded areas (where i live) but once i go on campus (in the open), both are the same And i gotta agree with "Samsuck", i had terrible experience with them with reception and all. just my experience. |

| I can tell you why I didn't like the VX8300. The reception was awful, it couldn't hold a signal and I couldn't get my BT headset to connect to it for any longer than 20 minutes at a time. I tried multiple BT headsets and none of them would connect consistently. I would try to make a call and it would constantly lose the signal at the exact time I'd hit "send." It was a worthless phone and I was glad to get rid of it. |

| vzw moto phones are really solid. And have a $100 price drop now. Got my V9m for $100 should be here tomorrow. But for real I'd just go to a vzw store and take a peak. See what makes you say HEY!
