Hi Everyone: Okay so my godparents each had the Moto E815. LOVE This phone! My godfather's broke tragically it's so hard to get a new E815 at a reasonable price without doing ebay. The big issues is a speakerphone is a must for my godfather. you have to love the E815 speaker phone and I was able to find out that it was Full duplex when I bought it for them. NOW comes the question: 1. My godfather is older. He does not need bells and whistles, though the E815 had some and I got them that phone because of quality. HOWEVER a good speakerphone is a must. I have checked Cnet, phonescoop and I've downloanded the manuals for both the moto W385 and the LG VX5400 and I can't fnd any info on whether or not these phones have full duplex speakers. Can ayone help on this. 2. NEXT: can you folks give me some feedback on which phone you would buy. He is got 100 credit with verizon for new phone. I have read that the LGVX 5400 is one of the best mid priced phones but I'm wondering if the W385 isn't better. While some reviewers say: the speaker phone is nice and loud: the fact is my NEW piece of junk Sanyo 7050 speakerphone sounds so wonderfully loud to me but in fact I later found out it was not full duplex and people hate talking to me on my cell phone because while the speaker phone sounds loud and clear to me: people complain that I am constantly cutting off. I really want a full duplex speaker can you folks tell me if eitther the 385 or 5400 is full duplex and where one can find such a tech spec and then also please tell me which you feel is better the moto 385 or the lg5400. Would consider the LG8350 but those buttons on the front are of concern for an older person. Thank you everyone |

I know two people with the Motorola W385 and I can tell you for a fact that the speaker phone on it is excellent, on my end I cannot even tell they are on it. Also bluetooth works wonderfully on this phone.

I also forgot to mention that you still might be able to get an E815 through Verizon. I got one a few months ago through them. It may be refurbished though I am not sure. Anyway, it has been an excellent phone.

Hi again everyone: I can't tell you all how much I appreciate the feed back. For those of you who suggest the Moto W385 and have these follow up questions: 1. For those who say the speakerphone is great do you know if it's truly full duplex: here is why I asked. I recently for myself with sprint got the Sanyo 7050 and when I listen to the speakerphone at my end I think it sounds great. HOWEVER it must not be full duplex because people at the other end get so frustrated. They say my speakerphone is horrible that I am getting cut off and as soon as I go to the ear piece it's fine. So at my end the speakerphone sounds loud and great and at their end terrible. Those of you who kindly told me the speakerphone was great is that only from your end or are people at the other end okay. Are they hearing okay? Do you know for sure if it is full duplex. 2. What about the keypad and display. My godfather is an older man is the keypad way to small is the display INSIDE display way to small. I am so grateful for all the feedback and help. |

Hi Jude, I got my E815 at a local VZW store September of last year and it was a replacement for my cosmetically broken one. By the way, the speaker phone on the W385 does sound good on the receiver's end, I cannot even tell the person is on speaker phone. On LGs, you are right, as I know a few people with them and the speaker phone sounds horrible on my end, lots of cutting out and background noise. I do believe the now older LG VX8300 is full duplex speaker phone though.
