Broadcast-Quality TV Now Playing on Wireless Phones in Washington, D.C., Baltimore and Annapolis

Verizon Wireless to Launch V CAST Mobile TV on October 1, 2007

LAUREL, Md., Sept. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Wait times at the airport,
doctors' offices and restaurants will get a little bit more interesting on
Monday, October 1 for Verizon Wireless customers in Washington, D.C.,
Baltimore and Annapolis who will be able to watch broadcast-quality
television on select TV- enabled handsets. V CAST Mobile TV from Verizon
Wireless offers customers broadcast-quality picture and sound for
programming from the best of broadcast and cable television, including live
fall shows premiering this week and other mobile television content 24
hours a day from many of the best-known entertainment brands.
Verizon Wireless launched V CAST mobile TV in March 2007 and currently
offers the service in more than 30 markets including Manhattan and Nassau
County, N.Y., Atlanta, Chicago, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Philadelphia,
Richmond, and Norfolk.
V CAST Mobile TV offers programming for TV viewers of all ages and
interests including the "Late Show with David Letterman," "24" and "Dora
the Explorer." The service offers live shows and mobile television content
from CBS Mobile, Comedy Central, ESPN Mobile TV, Fox Mobile, MTV, NBC 2GO,
NBC News2GO, and Nickelodeon.
"It's like flipping on your television at home," said Tami Erwin,
regional president for Verizon Wireless. "You absolutely have to see it to
believe the quality of this service. It goes way beyond any other video
offering in the wireless market right now."
The fall season also features established news and entertainment
favorites that are appearing on Verizon Wireless V CAST Mobile TV-enabled
phones for the first time, including the legendary TV news magazine "60
Minutes," "The Early Show," "How I Met Your Mother," and "The Price Is
Right" on CBS Mobile; and Emmy Award-winning "30 Rock" on NBC 2GO.
The service comes with parental control features, so parents can
monitor and restrict the programs their children view.
V CAST Mobile TV from Verizon Wireless is powered on the FLO TV(TM)
service from MediaFLO USA Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of QUALCOMM
Incorporated. Because MediaFLO USA operates a dedicated multicast network
that delivers programming in a linear format, Verizon Wireless can offer
customers the latest in mobile entertainment without impacting its award-
winning voice and data services.
Monthly access packages for V CAST Mobile TV range from $13 to $25 per
month. The $25 Mobile TV subscription also gives you unlimited access to
Mobile Web 2.0(SM) and ESPN MVP, along with other applications. For the
