I recently switched from Sprint to Verizon Wireless and decided to try the LG VX8300. I love the phone and all of its capabilities especially the ability to put on custom ringtones, videos, wallpapers etc. The phone has great battery life and I have gotten great reception from it. My one gripe about the phone is the "sidetone". I can't stand to hear myself in the earpiece; it drives me absolutely insane. My question is this: Are there any other phones on Verizon Wireless that I should look at? Must haves: Good battery life Good reception Speakerphone Ability to use custom ringtones/wallpapers/videos Above all: NO SIDETONE. If my criteria is too strict, just assume that the no sidetone issue is the most important. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance |

You should not be able to hear yourself in the earpiece, it sounds like a problem with the phone. (I know none of the phones I ever owned allowed this)

It seems as if the problem I am experiencing is intentional. Here is a quote from another forum: "I believe its called a 'sidetone', and actually, its intentional: Sidetone - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Basically, some people, when they talk into a cell phone that has no sidetone (i.e. you can't hear your own voice at all), tend to yell into the phone, or think that the phone isn't working/the call has been dropped. It's also maybe a consistency thing, since I believe that landline phones have sidetone, and people want it 'cuz they're used to it." Eh.. |

If your phone sounds like a delayed echo, then it is a network or phone problem. Otherwise the artificial sidetone on this phone is improperly designed. Proper sidetone would sound natural, like your landline or from your own mouth-ear combination. | |
