Default NBC Expands relationship with Verizon to offer more shows

NBC goes all in with Verizon Wireless’ Vcast

Verizon Wireless and NBC Universal have expanded on their already far-reaching relationship to offer customers access to the network's entire suite of channels on Verizon’s Vcast video. Starting today, Verizon customers with Vcast-enabled devices will have on-demand access to NBC News, entertainment news from "Access Hollywood," NBC Sports, NBC Comedy with "The Office," "30 Rock," Jay Leno and Conan O'Brien, BravoToGo, NBC Entertainment, Telemundo, mun2 and iVillage.

The move comes as the mobile video market continues to steer two parallel tracks: broadcast and on-demand. It's assumed that many carriers will eventually offer a robust offering in both categories. Indeed, Verizon Wireless offers on-demand video downloads through its Vcast video service and broadcast video through its Vcast Mobile TV service.

"NBC continues to be a leader in extending the reach of our brands across mobile devices," said Jean-Briac Perrette, president of NBC Universal Digital Distribution. "Through our expanded partnership with Verizon, customers can watch an extensive offering of NBCU content where and when they want."

Vcast video is available for $3 for 24 hours of use or a $15 monthly subscription. However, download fees do apply for some premium video choices.
