My contract was up with Verizon. Yesterday I bought the Blackberry 8830 and I had to sign a new 2 year contract. I decided I want to switch to Cingular and get the 8800. Can I return the phone and get back out of the contract within the 30 days or is the 30 day time period just for the return of the phone?

Yes, as long as you come back within 30 days, you can return your phone and it will terminate your contract and you will not have to pay any cancellation fees.
