Default Samsung SCH-u740 or LG VX8600??

Alright it's time to upgrade again... the Samsung and LG seem nice on paper; anyone have suggestions on these or perhaps other phones?
I don't really use a phone for much more than talking, very occasional texting (I know the samsung has a QWERTY keyboard, but I wouldn't use that enough to be a main selling point).
So the most important features for me would be call quality and battery life, followed by interface, size, etc. I've used LGs up until now and overall have been happy with their performance and interface, but am not limited to LG by any means. Thanks.

Me and my dad both have lg vx8600 and we both love them. its my favorite phone by far and my dad says he can go about three days without charging, but i charge mine everynight because i do a lot of texting and mobile web and messing around so it drains the battery faster. the Lg has a very nice camera and a amazing picture with a large screen. theres a lot of other features such as blue tooth and customizable themes and stuff along that line

I currently have the Samsung 740, prior to that I had the Lg 8600. Both are great, but the only issue I had with the 8600 was the weak speakerphone. Its max volume is much less then the average phone. Other than that its a cool phone.
