Default Feedback on Motorola RAZR Maxx VE

I was thinking of updating my RAZR V3c (Yes! Still have the V3c) for the RAZR Maxx VE. I won't be able to buy the phone until Ocotober 18th. I'm in the Verizon Wireless Every 2Year Plan, when you get a new phone at a discounted price. So it give me time to see if anybody bought this phone. I need some kind of feedback. Also I'll see what other new phones Verizon Wireless is offering from now until October!

I've gotten to play with this phone for about an hour now. I bought mine yesterday although I won't get it for a few days.

The phone was all it was cracked up to be. even true haters of the RAZR like it. The bluetooth has been locked out (a little) but that might be able to just be turned on through a seem.

The glass on the front is the same as for the KRZR. It picks up fingerprints like mad too! I hate that much but only cause I am OCD.

Everything works really well. I jsut want to experiment with the seems and see what does what.

Although I would recommend going to a Verizon store and make sure you like the look of the phone before you buy it. At frist glance.... It's kinda odd to look at.

I went to Verizon yesterday to check out the RAZR Maxx. I was trying to decide whether or not I should swap my one week old LG enV out for this MOTO, but after the sales Rep. took it out of the box and let me try it out for awhile I decided to keep my LG.
Although I really love Motorola phones, I didn't like the; fingerprints on the outside, and the marks on the inner screen from the keypad. Also the red bars were not able to be changed to any other color like they are with Verizon's LG handsets.
Has the reception on the RAZR Maxx been good for you so far?

Reception is great! Just like I had hoped. Sounds really good and reception with Bluetooth is good too!

Although the screen can get marks from the keys, (this has been a problem since day one. which is why they say in the manual to close your flip and then let it go with not much room to drop.) the fingerprints do show up so easily! but it's a new alloy of Glass that is stratch resistant so it's okay by me if I have to do less polishing and be a lot less careful with my phone.

The main thing I wanted is that OBEX and Object Push were enabled at first! Which mean you should be able to reenable them in a seem edit.

I hate that Verizon took away the ability to do themes or skins with the moto phones like they were intended. But I guess it's just what happens. If I go back to a GSM Network I am getting a MAXX V6

Other than that I will send pics when I get it and I will release a review okays! Any other questions?

NEVER BUY A RAZR AND NEVER USE VERIZON. I bought 2 razrs at the same time last fall. I use one, my husband uses one. Both broke within 2 weeks of each other. Both have a red dot on the back and Verizon says that voids warranty. They say the red dot means moisture exposure. Sorry, no moisture exposure and besides, used by two different people, but they die within days of each other, SCAM!!!!!!!!!!. Why in the world would 2 phones purchased at the exact same time break at the exact same time with the exact same problem. SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Verizon workers are brain dead and do not realize that I am a good customer, paid their bills for years and they tell me two phones purchased in the fall are not covered by warranty. I do not know which company is worse, VERIZON or MOTOROLA. Now one phone has no call history either and Verizon tells me they do not know how to fix. Trust me, run far away from Verizon and stay very far, far, far away from Razrs. YOu will thank me for the blog!!!!!!1

Welcome to the forum trotplease. As to both of your phones having the moisture indicator turning red and your warranty being voided, yes this would absolutely void your warranty and Verizon has every right to enforce this policy with their customers. If you didn't get your RAZR's wet at any time then it could have happened from exposure to steam from being in a bathroom. I've both the RAZR V3c and the RAZR V3m and can't recall any big issues with either one of them.

WRONG ELLEN. Neither of these phones has been exposed to moisture. We are very careful with these phones. The razrs are CRAP!!!!!!!!! I know a fraud when it happens. The red dot is a plant to void an illusory warranty. Now that this has happened to us we have spoken to others and every person we have spoken with has had problems with razrs. They are CRAP phones and VERIZON KNOWS THEY ARE SELLING A FAULTY PRODUCT. THEY MAKE MORE MONEY SELLING A FAULTY PRODUCT, GET YOU HOOKED IN A CONTRACT, THEN THEY WANT YOU TO BUY MORE PHONES BECAUSE THE CRAP PHONES THEY SOLD YOU SIX MONTHS AGO DO NOT WORK. I have had cell phones for years and have never had problems with my phones before these razrs. Razrs should be pulled from the market. I am certain Verizon knows this is faulty product because of all the complaints they receive. They should not sell these phones. I am going to tell anyone I can to never use Verizon and never buy a razr.

Holy freaking hell! grudge much?!

We are talking about a newer and better made version of the RAZR. I doubt you have even seen the phone we are discussing cause it just came out a few days ago. I used to work for Motorola and I can assure you, the Razr is built well and half the time when the phone messes up (when it's not water, electrical, or physical damage) that the software problems are usually corrected within a few seconds. Not to mention the countless times all we did was Master Reset the phone.

And I'm not sure if you use a computer but a cellphone is just a smaller version of a computer. doesn't have a whole lot of functionality but at the same time even the people who know much about computers still have them lock up from time to time...

If you got the red dots then either one of two things happened.

A: They were orchestrated by the Verizon store to mess up (I say Verizon store because unlike you I have worked at Moto and I have never EVER seen this issue when it didn't happen).

or B: You accidentally got moisture or water damage and you are more willing to blame the phone or Verizon to make up for your lack of responsibility.

Either way I have worked with 3 Razrs all were upgrades to newer versions and I have NEVER had a problem with it.. Half the complaints Verizon got were from Stupid customers that don't know how a phone works or how to possibly fix an issue.. Most issues were solved by having them read a section of thier manual!

Next time you want to whine about a phone. Do it in a phone whining thread not a review or question thread about the features or functionality of a phone you haven't even tried yet..

I mean no disrespect, but come on.. Geez

If you have a specific complaint about Verizon or your RAZR's perhaps you can use the proper forums:

For Verizon: http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/ve...ireless-users/

For RAZR : http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/razr-phones/

The OP was inquiring about the newly released MOTORAZR maxx Ve which is in fact different then past RAZR models.

Hi kenshinffx,
Just wanted to know if you have had an opportunity to test out the camera on this phone yet? When you do please post back what you think of the picture quality. Thanks.

Oh yeah I've totally gotten to mess with the Camera.. Although I would like to upload the pics on my computer to test true quality.

The 2 megapixel Camera takes great pictures and especially cause of the Auto Focus Button that is on the hinge in the middle just below the screen.

It has a symbol that looks like a dotted line box with a plus sign in the middle.

You point the cam at what you are shooting and hold the auto focus button till the square turns green then shoot the pic. It makes almost any picture you take look ten times better than if you hadn't focused it.

Not sure about filetypes but I did try to push transfer a pic I took to my V3m and it wouldn't accept it cause it was an unsupported format. I might actually be a Jpeg format this time.. Although it may just be a huge resolution to use..

I'll be making my own wallpapers and transferring them over though...

So sorry you are posting falsehoods about the crappy razrs. Got two in fall, one had to be replaced right away because it did not work. One was replaced early April, the "new phone" you are so proud of. The call history does not work AT ALL and the verizon tech said motorola has had lots of problems with the razrs and the new software does not even permit all the call history. Then the other phone breaks. Thus we have had to have 4 phones in 6 months and they still do not work. I have spent 4 days and over two hours at Verizon and they cannot fix the crappy phones. A friend went through 3 razrs and then gave up because they are such crap. I would not ever dare mention it if I was associated with creating such a useless phone. If you have money you wnat to tear up and throw away, then by all means by a crappy razr.

Do you have a productive reason for being here, or is it just to complain? Those of us who are members here come here to discuss wireless devices. The devices we're discussing here aren't even the Razr you purchased. I'm sorry you had a bad experience with yours, but I'm on my 2nd Razr, and have never had a problem one.

If you'd like to give some constructive criticism, great, but there's no sense in taking over the thread just to complain about something that's not even on this topic.

I'm not trying to be hasty, but no one wants to be accosted for their tastes in cell phones...

Whether or not a phone is good or bad is just an opinion and nothing else. So please don't try to hijack a good thread with your negativity and know-it-all attitude.

I ordered mine today. Should arrive tomorrow AM. It was a total impulse as my NE2 came due today. I had been waiting for a new PDA to replace this POS Treo but at the rate Verizon is going, who knows when anything new will be released.

Let us know how you like it once you have had a chance to test it out. I know Verizon seems to take forever in getting their handsets released, but the ones that I've seen them come out with lately have been worth the wait.

Just got it yesterday. I have to say that I was a little scared about some of the initial reports I read BEFORE getting the phone. However, build quality is excellent, the feel is great and it sounds at least 2x better than my old Treo 700w. Also, this is my first phone with the Verizon UI and all I have to say is...what's the big deal?? The red bars that people scream about do not bother me. I can definately see the benefit in a custom UI as it makes it easier to switch between phones. I used the online contact backup and it worked flawless.

The only complaints are that the phone is exremely prone to fingerprints but we knew this already. Also, when playing around with the camera trying to send a pix msg the phone rebooted. Again, this was expected as I had read about it in several threads. That being said, hopefully they will fix it in a firmware release.

Prior to this phone I had the Samsung A530/Moto E815/Treo700w with Verizon. It has been a year and a half since I got rid of my 815 which I loved but I think this one is actually better.

Now I just have to figure out how to text without my nice little qwerty keyboard

I went to the Verizon store today. I saw the phone. Nice design. I touched the phone. Nice feel to it. There were fingerprints. Nice reception. But I still have to wait until Oct. Verizon may have more phones coming out. But I like that RAZR Maxx VE!

I've got the Maxx and so far I've got mostly good things to say. I haven't experienced flaws that some other users have (loose hinges or buttons, or restarting of phone). The camera is about as good as I've seen on a phone and takes wonderful outdoor pictures in the daytime. It feels solid. I haven't used the mp3 player aspect yet.

A couple things I'm not happy with are the texting (I've always been more used to T9Word) and the fact that there's no vibe detail. If my phone is on vibrate and goes off in my pocket I can't distinguish between a call and a text (if I feel it at all, the vibrate isn't very strong).

Some users complain heavily about the Verizon UI. I don't find the menus to be that slow, but this is my first RAZR.

If you're that worried about fingerprints pick up a shield (either just screens or full body) from Shieldzone.
