Hey guys (& gals), I've got a moto Razr & I like how small it is & how I can tether it to get 1x internet on my laptop, but I pretty much hate everything else (battery life, Verizon interface, key options, etc.) I make calls & send text messages the most, but about once a month or so I use it to surf the internet on my laptop via my USB cable (no bluetooth on my laptop I've got a friend who will trade me for their Motorola Q, I want to get some oppinions about the Q. If I trade them for it, I won't be getting the data plan w/ verizon. How easy is it to use? How is the battery life? Can I tether it to my laptop, force it to 1x, and surf the internet w/out a data plan? What kinds of apps can I put on it? Let me know which would be better for me. Thanks, - mofo |

If you decide to not make that trade tell your friend that I'll do it! I force my V3m to 1x mode for tethering w/o data plan too. I'd really be stuck if I couldn't do that with the RAZR. But now I'm considering adding data to my plan. |

im a verizon wireless sales rep and the Q 4 a v3m is a pretty good deal. but some things u should know about the Q are that it has pretty poor bat life until u do the software update that moto offers. also its kinda slow. its like when you have way to many messages saved to your v3m and it lags all the time. it does not sound like u will be doing much word file viewing on it but just as a heads up u can view word access excel powerpoint files but u cannot creat or edit them. and as far as teathering goes from a reps point of view u can teather without a data package i think its 39.99 a month though(not posative though)...but besides the fact that the Q is a little slow most ppl that get them say are great little PDAs i have sold a bunch of them..but what ever u decide best of luck RICHARDS108 |

i would stick with the RAZR...........the only good things about the Q are that it has a lot of organizational features for the secretarial freak.........and the Q is prone to freezing up a lot from what I heard from people when it first came out..........the V3m is a good phone........i have it too......although on Sprint.........i havent heard many good things about the Q except for the big screen and lots of mobile office features

thanks for all the feedback! Is the battery life on the Q worse than the V3M? Will it lag all of the time when I'm just accessing my contacts or text messages? Will I be able to create any kind of text file? I don't mind if it is not a word doc. How easy is it to force to 1x and tether over national access (not data plan?) Thanks guys! |

well i can tell you that the RAZR processors are really slow and even with the EV-DO the internet and things like that arent incredible..........the lag gets longer and longer depending on how many contacts are in your phonebook.........i have about 194 contacts in my phonebook and it takes about 3 secs to pull up the contacts no matter what

| I can tell you that I have not had one problem with lockups or freezes on my Q. Though, for me, WM5 leaves something to be desired...
