Angry xv6700 problems

I signed up with verizon because they were supposedly the best coverage in my area. I am a real estate appraiser and don't want to miss calls.

I was talked in to the xv6700 becasue the saleswoman thought I would be able to use it for my job. Well, that is not the case. I am just now finding out that it can't be used as a wireless modem. It doesn't catch signal from all three bands, and windows mobile dosen't work on a lot of wabsites I need to access.

Nedless to say, I was sold this PPC under false pretenses. It's a really neat toy, but I am no stuck with a sub-par phone and no modem. I have contacted Verizon and they are willing sign me up for another contract and phone deal at no charge, but I've got to eat the $299 I paid for the xv6700.

First, does anyone have a suggestion on the best receiving phone that verizon has? Secondly, what suggestions do you all have on my delima? I hate to take the financial respponsibility of this $299 ppc that was sold to my under false pretenses.

Well first of all I disagree with you,

Granted the XV6700 doesn't cover analog, but, try opera mobile for the websites (it should work a lot better than PIE) and furthermore it should be very capable as a Laptop modem (via bluetooth, usb, and IR) if you wish I will look up what it takes to configure the modem properties as such, I can tell you from experience you will need to disable activesync while using it as a modem and there is a application on the phone you will need to run. Also the modem drivers should be on a cd that came with your phone.

If you're intent on getting rid of the XV6700 you could ebay it or sell it, other than that there's really not much you can do after the 30 days is up.

I greatly appreciate your advise. I would really like to use this as a modem and get coverage on the interstate.

I will try to figure out what to do shortly

Respectfully...

Well like I said earlier, you have a great and powerfull tool in your hands, analog is being shut off soon anyways and verizon and alltel are quickly on the move to cover areas that were previously analog only with CDMA.
I'm hoping Budney will post about the modem situation, I'm aware of a solution that is basically internet connection sharing via the pda, however, I'm sure there's a direct modem application or method already on the phone. If he doesn't respond I've already started researching it a bit more, I have the GSM equivalent of your phone and so the methods are a little varied.
