Smile Switching phones on Family Share Plan

I was wondering I have a family Share plan with Verizon, and both phones are eligible for an upgrade, but only the main phone gets the $100 off. I was thinking of upgrading online to the K1M and Pink Razr. When I get the phones in the mail, can I active them but switch the phone numbers.

In other words I would use the NE2 for the K1M and then order the Pink Razr on the “2nd line”, but when I get the phones. I would activate the K1M on the “2nd line” and the pink razr on the NE2 or main line. Or are they somehow already activated under their respected numbers. Has anyone every done this?

Thanks in Advance.

You MUST initially activate the NE2 fone on the line it was ordered for. After 24 hrs, then you can simply switch the phone numbers. ( You probably don't have to wait a full 24, but it can't hurt & you shouldn't have any problems after that).

Do I switch it online? Where do I go online? Or do I have to call a rep or go into a verizon store? How much does it cost? Thanks for the quick response.

If you open an OnLine account at VZW.com , once you log into your account there will be a link somewhere in the lower left to "activate a phone" (Try this 1st, easy & no calls to CS).
When done OnLine it is free, & if the online changer won't work (usually when trying to switch between EVDO/non EVDO fones), you will get a number on screen to call CS, & they "usually" will waive the fee if you tell them you were OnLine & it didn't work.
There is usually also no fee to turn on your new every 2 fone by CS for the 1st time ...
PS : the fee is $20 for "regular" non-online ESN changes ...

Since you are getting the phones online, they will charge you $20 per phone to activate them, if you take them to a local VZW store.

That is what they tried to do to me. So I learned real quick how to do it online.

MeatChicken is correct. You should have no problems after setting up your account online. It is real easy to follow. The only thing you need is the phone # and the edn # from under the battery. Once you enter the info it only takes a minute or two.

If you enter it wrong, the online system will let you know.

I recently did the number switch with Family Plan.. had new every two on primary line. Ordered the first phone on the secondary line, got the phone, and called to activate. (not in a *228 area) ..it actually came with everyting ready...the walk through with CS just confirmed it. Put the primary line number in as the secondary number (NAM2) on the phone (74663#clr clr) Ordered the second phone (Primary line) got it, put in primary line number as NAM1 and Secondary line in as NAM2. Called and had them activate the Nam2 numbers on each phone.. you will need the esn of the phones, for the switch when talking with CS (on your paperwork)... I just told them that we had accidentally switched phones and because I had already put the Second numbers in the phones I had no problem. You go to Menu/Settings/System/Device Info/Active Line and switch it.

Sorry for gravedigging a thread, but I was wondering if there was a way to do this without paying the $20 extra activation fee (for 2 phones, $40).

A friend was saying he did this and activated both phones to the lines they were ordered to, then deactivated them, then reactivated them for the lines they wanted the phones on. He didn't think he had to pay extra money to do this, so was he mistaken?

If you do it online, customer service said you have to wait 24 hours to switch numbers, if you don't do it online, do you have to wait 24 hours?
