Default Spam Texts

I just recently got a Verizon phone (e815) but I have been getting a few spanish language text spams from the number 35000. Is there a way to block these? Am I charged for them if I delete them without reading them?

I believe you are charged whether or not you read them. Verizon can, however, put a block on this if you want. Just call Customer Care at 611.

Can they put a block on just one number? Because I use text messages.

You can try replying to the text with the word stop or quit in the body of the reply message. (usually works if it is a subscription type of text message) worth a try. When I did it I recieved one final text confirming my cancellation.

I believe Verizon can block it from only one number- you may be able to do it online at vtext.com if I"m not mistaken.
Call Customer care and tell them what kind of messages you are getting and from what number. Maybe it is some kind of subscription that they can halt. If not, I'm sure they can put a block on just this number(I've never done this myself but I assume it can be done).

You can block one number at VText.com but it must have a domain (number@_____.___). What should I enter?

I solved the problem by sending an email to the company that was sending the messages.

I just got 3 spam texts today. It was the same message sent to me 3 times from 3 different numbers. I tried to call the 800 number in the text to tell them to stop but all I get when I call is a fast busy. Cingular gave me credit for the messages (I'm on the pay per use plan because I don't use it much), and I am blocking my text messages for right now. It bothers me because I actually do use my text messaging 2 or 3 times a month, I'd rather not have to have it disabled.

UPDATE: I was finally able to call the company that was spamming me and they assured me that they will remove me from their list.

This is feature that really frustrates me. I've had a number for about a year now, and occasionally get spam texts. At .02 cents, I didn't really care, but at .10 cents now, it becomes a bigger problem. The frustrating part is, you can't create a list of "friendly" sources! How archaic is there system? The worst part is, if you disable text messaging on the number, you don't get system messages anymore either. Now that is really stupid!

I mean gee, I can block number(s), that's nice, but if it's spam, we don't know how many there are. I guess VZW has no incentive to fix this problem, heck, they make .10 cents every time someone gets spammed!!

When I called Cingular they gave me credit for the spam texts. I agree, an "allowed list" would be nice...

Last year I had the same problem with my daughter getting some 'harrassing' phone calls. After talking to VZW, they had me go online and enter up to 20 phone numbers (nnn-nnn-nnnn) and I could block them.

Then they started using txt messaging by email. Again, back to VZW. They said that they had no way of blocking txt messaging. You could either turn ON txt messaging or turn it OFF, no in betweens.

As I think someone mentioned earlier, you can block text messages from specific email addresses or domains from the VTEXT website. I was receiving text messages from someone a few years ago that thought I was someone else. When I responded to them that I was not the person they thought I was, the volume of messages dramatically increased and I ended up having to block incoming messages from that person through VTEXT. It worked like a charm.

Wow! After talking to VZW cs and writing a couple of letters about NOT being able to block txt messaging by emails. VZW finally started giving us a 'complete' detail listing on our billing information, so that we could take it to a judge.

After 6/7 months of putting all the information together and showing a judge, it took another 3/4 months to find it out it was one of my daughters school chums that was getting back at my daughter because my daughter did not like her and did not want to have anything to do with her (if you think a sailor can cuss up a storm, I have never heard as much vulgarity as that 13 yr old girl spit out. )

Also, when we got my daughter her V3m, the tech told me he set her phone up so that if a person's phone and email was NOT in her phonebooks, the phone would not receive the call nor take the email txt message.

Anyway case solved for us.

I have been receiving the same spanish text messages from 35000 for a week. Reply back to them and type, "stop all" and they will quit. It's from esmas.com, a mexican webiste. I have AT&T and they said that I will be charged for those texts received. ARGH!!!!!!
