Error 37 when connecting (tethered mode) XV6700 to notebokPC

Hello,

I'm attempting to tether a XV6700 phone to a notebook. However after running WMODEM, then connecting the cable, then finally running CDMA USB Modem dialer app, Dialing up using the appropriate username/password I get the following on the XV6700:

Error code 37:
Miscellanous Erroneiously Mobile IP Set up occurred.

Also, on the PC side, I get a Remote Access Error 720.


I am quite confident the issue is not with the setup on the phone, but rather on the notebook and the networking components/protocols itself. I have tried several other XV6700 phones on this laptop and get the same problem. I've taken all phones to another notebook and they all tether/connect fine

One thing I thought that might be the culprit is that there is a Novell Netware client on this machine. I uninstalled it just to see if it made a difference:
Nothing.

I also have looked into MS KB articles on the DUN 720 error. They mostly discuss that the WAN Miniport(IP) entry needs to be removed.

Are there any other hints out there that may help me to resove this problem.

Is this a Verizon phone????

Yes it is a Verizon phone...well it has service established through VZW. Verizon won't acknowledge this problem and won't support it either, even though this WMODEM program is part of the phone/software.
