activating new line with family plan

Hey,

I've had a verizon wireless family plan for 3 phones since Jan 2005 (They are all contracted up to Jan 2007). Today I called about adding an additional line and they said that I must sign up for the 69.99 plan and an additional two year contract (I'm currently on the 59.99 plan). I argued with them that I was not made aware of this policy, but they werent hearing it. Who was right? I am currently trying to find my original signed contract to check this. Can I go back to the store and ask to see my original contract?

Btw, I have an additional unused phone that I bought off ebay so I don't need to buy a phone from verizon.
