I talked my sister into going with Verizon, they are great here in Utah. I was wondering if I could get some recommendations on what phone to go with, where to puchase it, etc.? Her husband is in school, so subsequently they are on a budget. Would it be cheaper to find a phone at the online store? Also, I've had much success with my E815. Should I just tell her to get this phone, or go with a free phone due to budget constraints? Thanks folks! |

Since I cannot comment on other phones, I will give you my opinion. I am currently using the E815 (until I cancel Verizon), and I love the phone and reception. I get reception in areas where my parents and sister's LG VX8000 doesn't. The battery life on the phone was average at first. Now, once you discharge the battery a couple of times and recharge it, the battery life is awesome (much better than my average Samsung A900 for Sprint). I would definitely recommend this phone. According to Verizon's website online, the E815 is $99.99 price -50.00 online discount $49.99 for a 2-year contract and $149.99 price -50.00 online discount $99.99 for a 1-year contract You will most likely find a general agreement among the E815 (as being an excellent phone) from people on WA that already use this. I would recommend buying the phone from a corporate Verizon store. I do not recommend buying the phone from authorized resellers of Verizon. Hopefully other people on WA will give their opinion on where to buy it from. Good luck.

Thanks Gamer03. That helps. I guess I'll just tell her to go to the corporate store in Salt Lake, I don't see why they wouldn't offer the same pricing as online, but we shall see. I definatley like the advise on the E815, its been a great phone for me too. |

From what I have heard and read, it seems like Motorola's are the best phones for getting the best reception. However, your sister can still test out the other phones while she is there. She might find a phone that she likes better (since my sister says that my Motorola E815 is pretty big).

I would recommend the e815 or V3c RAZR, although if she has budget constraints the e815 is probably the best choice, since it's so cheap right now.

Great to hear from you again! It's good to hear you happy having come to Verizon from Cingular! I would suggest the E815 over the RAZR reception wise and battery life wise. I have both and my E815 definitely is better, even though the RAZR is better than some LG phones IMO. Honestly, some VZW corp. stores have become stuck up- I never go to corp. stores anymore unless I have to get my phone fixed/exchanged. I'd go to a Ciruit City Verizon store. When I added the 5th line to my family share account and went to a VZW corp. store in Fort Union I told them that I basically wanted a discount off the phone; the guy said that wasn't possible and I said okay see you later. Went over to the Fort Union Circuit City and told the manager I was going to add a fifth line but needed a good deal to do it. He asked me what I would consider fair and sure enough he gave me half off the phone and cheap accessories. Good luck; the Nokia 6256i (the phone that AGentHibby has) is also supposed to be great, reception and battery life wise. It's only available at authorized dealers including VZW Circuit City stores though I think. What carrier are they switching from? |

I'll tag along on this thread as I'm also in the market for another phone upgrade. We currently have the Samsung a670 and I love this phone! We never use the camera, so it's definitely not a needed feature, and I really would like speakerphone... So what could be recommended?? I like the flips, but it's not mandatory... Reception is a must (no brainer here)... I need loud rings! (I stopped using the downloaded ringers on the a670 because they are so much lower!)... Speakerphone would be ever so helpful... I think will will help for a start....any suggestions? I've heard the Razr for VZW doesn't get great reception, so that wouldn't be helpful..I use my a670 for my business, so I need reliable reception... |

Again, I would recommend the E815. The speakerphone is excellent (the bluetooth is also good). The reception is excellent. I have been in the interior part of my county along and in between the Everglades and have not lost a signal. In fact, where our LG VX8000 got a weak signal (no bars and -105 db's) my Motorola E815 received one (one bar and -99 to -100 db's). The ringtones are indeed loud (I think I set it to standard or continental if I am not mistaken when I want the phone real loud). The battery life is also very good on this phone. With my E815, I can get close to 3 and a half hours of talk time before the phone gets real close to dying. You can always go down to your Verizon store and check this out. Plus, if I am not mistaken, the phone is now $49.99 with a two year contract. Good luck. Let us know what phone you choose. | |

Jodi, Moto E815 all the way! Reception wise and battery life wise it's great. It has tons of features and the price isn't bad either.

Hey Gamer...glad to see you too! I know...I know...I've been away too long. Thanks for the recommendation...How light (weight-wise) is the E815 in comparison to the a670? I have seen many more flips that are lighter than the a670 since getting it (not by much though)...I just don't want a heavier phone (obviously)...
