Default Hacking OBEX?

So Verizon likes to cripple their phone's natural born ability to transfer files over bluetooth. What is up with that? Does anybody have any experience with re-enabling these features on any of their phones? I am currently a Nextel customer and I am looking at switching to either Cingular, T-Mobile, or VZW.

From what everybody says VZW has the best network quality in Southern Cali but having VZW lock out the ability to transfer files from your phone to your computer simply so that they can make a buck kinda sucks.

Yes, it can be hacked with a little bit of time and computer knowlegde. There are plenty of guides online that tell you how to do it, depending on phone model.

...as long as you're willing to trade OBEX for lack of expandable memory and the horrible VZW UI.

The going theory is that when VZW released the first batch of the RAZR to retail (consumer sales), OBEX was still enabled, but that the happy accident was caught and would be fixed in later releases and subsequent firmware updates. We're still waiting for confirmation on this.
