For the last couple of years I have been able to use my phone with my Laptop and check email etc. I have been charged only air time and it was free on the weekend. A while back I removed mobile web and was no longer able to connect with my laptop. A quick call to Verizon fixed that. A couple months ago I got a new phone E815 and added Vcast still all works great. Today I called and canceled Vcast and now when I try and connect with my laptop it does not. Says username/password invalid on server. The rep mentioned they changed something in their system in September and said that I might not be able to connect anymore. Which seems to be the case. So the question is, whats the deal? and what do I say to Verizon to get this back? Do I have to subscribe to Mobile web or Vcast to use this dial up feature? Did not have to before... I did a search but could not find the exact answers...Thanks |

When they removed VCast, they probably also removed all codes related to data, except for the basic codes for account access via moble web. Call 611 and have them restore the codes for National Access, and you should be ok. One thing, tho - be aware that VZW has been cracking down on anyone who 'tethers' over EVDO, but if you're just using National Access (1XRTT) you should be OK.

Critic is correct. This is the code that's missing. Again, be careful when using EVDO speeds with your laptop- Verizon has become a little more strict with that. |

How would you get EVDO speeds? San Diego is an EVDO maket and your phone shows an EV instead of 1x. if you tether your phone/computer in an EVDO area you will autmatically get the higher speeds.

You have to call cs/email cs and cancel the subscription before the first month is over. Or you automatically will be billed every month until you do so. Sprint is the same way.

So, we're calling it tethering now...LOL. I remember back when a few of us discovered that we could do it with regular nationalaccess. Was less than a year ago suprisingly.

Speaking of tethering, could someone please explain how to tether my Nokia 6256 (with Verizon) via BT (Kensington USB BT 2.0 adapter)? I can't use the old Mobile Office software - doesn't find my device. From the BT software, it asks for user name, password and number to dial. I tried [phonenumber]@vzw3g.com for user name, vzw for password and #777 for the number ... to no avail. What do I need to do or is it not possible?
