Question Can I get out of contract?

I moved to an area a few months ago that doesn't offer VZW service. A friend told me since VZW doesn't offer service here that I can cancel the service without paying the early termination fee. Is this true?

Still in VA? Where in VA does Verizon NOT offer service?

I googled the heck out of your question and couldn't find anything definitive, but according to some opinions, if you can show that at the zip code where you currently live there is no Verizon service, they 'may' let you out of the contract without an ETF.

Try asking Verizon. You may get lucky.

I live in zip code 22963 and the local exchange for that zip is in Charlottesville and there is no VZW service offered here in Fluvanna, Albemarle, Charlottesville City, or Louisa counties. I still get a signal up here but I can't have a local # so really there is service here if you look at it that way, but they don't offer service here but I wish they would.

Well I think this might not be what you want to hear but if you can use your phone there then you pretty much cant get out of it.

Well actually you might be able to I just put that zip code in Verizons map and they say there is no service there. Call them and discuss this with them. Is there anyone else you can go with there?

Okay. So, as long as the phone works and has a signal it doesn't matter if they offer the service in the area you moved to? There are no VZW stores or authorized dealers here and if you are on VZW website and enter a Charlottesville or Fluvanna zip code it says something like "Sorry we do not currently offer service in your area". It's not a real big deal just that I have to get a phone with a local number now and VZW doesn't have a local # here.

Yes, now have USCC. Wanted Alltel but they wanted a hefty deposit. Still have VZW though because USCC has a 30 day trial period.

If they did have a local number I wouldn't even consider canceling. I love VZW. Never had a billing problem or CS problem. Only problem I ever had was a voice mail delay.

VZW has no license at all for Charlottesville area

Right now UrbanComm has the 10 MHz PCS F Block. Suncom was going to buy it, but Suncom has ran into cash problems so they are not getting the license. That leaves the F block vacant in your area. Verizon could buy it. Even if Verizon bought the license today there would be no network or local numbers until 2006~2007.

My family is in simmular problem they want VZW and local number and most were with VZW until 2002 when VZW got fired back home and are not allowed to sell wireless service.
